The Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) Demand Planner is key to managing demand in both the supply chain planning and execution horizons.  The Demand Planner works cross-functionally to proactively capture, scrub, analyze and align demand inputs and outputs. The Demand Planner aggregates, segments and details the demand plan to align requirements with North American Operations .  The Demand Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining professional relationships with key stakeholders to the supply chain process including sales, finance, marketing, engineering, product management, sourcing, and operations.  This position is responsible for making decisions that affect the demand plan and communicating effectively these changes in conjunction with the Sales & Operations Planning process.  This position identifies, manages, and resolves variances in forecast by product family and facilitates trade-off discussions with the cross-functional team members.  In addition, this position may be a team leader of special projects and business strategic deployment initiatives.  Demonstration of the core values of the Valmont Way is also required.

Essential Functions:

This position reports to the SI&OP Manager – North America This role requires up to 10% overnight travel (domestic)Work collaboratively with business leaders to gather, evaluate, and rationalize unconstrained forecast information for 12-18 month demand plan Facilitate generation of a consensus demand plan aligned with the capacity and capability of supply chain operationsAssist in development of Annual Operating Plan and reconcile with demand plansOrganize, facilitate and report on demand planning meetings with multiple market channel and product line ownersCommunicate effectively, both oral and written, any variations or gaps to plan alignmentInfluence and collaborate with key partners in functional teams including, but not limited to: sales and marketing, finance, supply chain, operations, engineering, product managementEnsure the demand plan is shared in the format, level of detail and timing required by all customers and supply chain partners including documented assumptionsCapture, analyze and translate demand signals into meaningful requirements plans for material, capacity and other supply chain resourcesEvaluate buying patterns of key customers and create recommendations for review of how Valmont should plan future production capacity, inventory, and service components to support these patternsUse what-if analysis and create scenarios and recommendations to determine risk and up-side potential for demand plansAbility to work within high-performing teams and is highly collaborativeIdentify S&OP KPIs impacted by demand planning activities and outputsAlign and coordinate with Regional Planning and Operational leaders to support execution activities in alignment with the consensus demand plan

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

Preferred Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience or Associate’s degree with 8+ years of experience or 10+ years of relevant experienceProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Tableau OR other relevant business analytic toolsAPICS CPIM, CFPIM, SCOR-P or CSCP certification, or successfully complete certification within 18 months of hire dateKnowledge of Lean manufacturing techniquesStrong attention to detail and quality of workAbility to work with minimal supervisionStrong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into high-level analysis and demand planning

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

Demonstrated success at building relationships with key internal and external stakeholdersBachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field is preferredPrior experience orchestrating a multi-tiered demand plan and evaluation of end-to-end supply chain impactsPrior experience in finance, sales and marketing or manufacturing operationsAbility to analyze large amounts of data, reach clear conclusions and translate those conclusions into actionable resultsExcellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skillsSets aggressive targets, accepts consequences of actions, and holds others accountableThinks globally about the entire business and committed to supporting the needs and goals of an integrated global organizationAn understanding of priorities and balances short-term and long-term requirementsCommunicates openly and honestly in a clear and concise manner on an ongoing basisKnowledge of mathematics and high-level data analysisIFS or similar ERP system high-level userEthical and truthful; The ability to lead by example and earn the respect of othersPassion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
