The role
The Sales Director - Government & Northern Region leader will be responsible for ensuring the Government & Northern Region achieves its planned business objectives within the scope defined by the Hitachi Vantara Corporate Mission and Objectives Statements and the annual operating plan (AOP). The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing aggressive growth strategies and comprehensive sales plans to further penetrate into Government & Northern region markets. S/he will have order booking, revenue, gross margin and expense responsibilities and is accountable for solid long-term business decisions (including recruiting, customer loyalty, and balancing short-term business issues against long-term goals). This position will report into the VP & MD of India.
Responsibilities
• Business Planning & Budgets
o Own overall business responsibility and accountability against annual operating plan (AOP). Review plans on a monthly basis with the VP, India
o Strategize for Geographic operation & business execution following AOP discussions with VP-India
• Sales & Marketing Management
o Lead and be accountable for sales AOP performance of each sales rep in the team, teaming up with other enabling organization/resources such as pre-sales, services sales, sales specialties etc. as part of virtual sales unit.
o Lead wide-scale change efforts to support the Digital Transformation opportunity in the marketplace
o Lead the modernization of business models, methods and messages to support key business efforts
o Drive Government & Northern region sales target attainment amongst district sales and channel organizations through deepening and widening our product, solutions and services penetration
o Drive the business through Government, Enterprise and commercial space across the region
o Direct strategic sales activities in Government & Northern region and be involved in sales opportunities
o Ensure sales discipline with regard to timely SFDC pipeline management, updates, sales forecasting, new account acquisition, account sales plans and frequent updates as mandated by VP/APAC
o Review and approve all pricing issues in accordance with the Finance Pricing guidelines
o Approve all deals and contracts in Government & Northern region in accordance with Finance guidelines
• People
o Owns the people asset in Government & Northern region through building a high performing organization.
o Together with the Human Resource team, acquire, engage, develop, and retain the right talents at the right time in the right job within the appropriate headcount and spending policies.
What you’ll bring
• Minimum 15 years solid sales executive and general management experience gained in IT Infrastructure, especially Storage, digital, data management, and software and/or information technology in multi-national organizations. 10+ year’s leadership in progressively more challenging roles
• Must be knowledgeable of relevant market dynamics, customer base and competition.
• Proven business excellence and above average performance with strong ethical standards
• A profound Sales leader and business leader with the vision in driving strategic plans to deepened and broaden sales penetration in the Government & Northern region marketplace
• Exhibited ability to establish a strong strategic presence and trusted advisor relationships at CXOs and above levels
• Proven leadership capabilities including wide scale business transformation efforts for continual success
• Ability to effectively interface, influence and garner support from company resources productively and collaboratively across the overall company
• Previous experience leading executives in Government & Northern region Sales marketplace with a focus on advancing the overall skills and capabilities of the talent to match business requirements
• Possessing a high degree of self-confidence but is able to go out of their way to learn and seek expert counsel from internal and external experts
• Possess effective organizational, time management, team building and verbal and written communication skills
• Possesses a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, sciences or business; MBA is preferred.
