Sales Engineer

 

Ameristar is seeking a technically skilled engineer to join our sales team. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to read and interpret civil drawings and specifications and confidently engage with engineers and technical professionals.   This role combines engineering expertise with client-facing sales, making it ideal for a professional who enjoys problem-solving, building relationships, and providing tailored solutions to meet customer needs. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

Technical Expertise 

Review and interpret civil drawings, site plans, product drawings, specifications, and other technical documents to understand project requirements. 

Provide technical insights to clients and internal teams, ensuring accurate application of our systems. 

 

Sales Support 

Collaborate with business development, sales and engineering teams to develop technical proposals and presentations tailored to client needs. 

Conduct technical product demonstrations and support customer meetings to showcase system capabilities. 

 

Client Engagement 

Serve as a technical liaison with customers to address inquiries related to our systems, ensuring accuracy and minimizing site challenges from product submittal to installation.  

Build strong relationships with clients, including engineers, architects, general contractors and sub-contractors to provide value-driven solutions. 

Active in local organizations of the design and construction community, i.e. CSI, ASCE, Structural Engineer’s Association 

Project Coordination 

Support project teams by offering technical guidance during the design, proposal, and implementation phases. 

Stay informed about industry trends, codes, and standards to ensure compliance and relevance of our systems. 

Work closely with product development and field service teams to provide feedback based on customer needs and market demands. 

 

Qualifications 

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related field and/or experience. MS or MBA preferred.  

Proven experience in a sales engineering, technical sales, or engineering role. 

Strong knowledge of civil and structural systems, with the ability to read and interpret civil drawings and specifications. 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. 

Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a customer-focused approach. 

Ability to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend site visits (50%+ travel). 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

 

Familiarity with crash-rated and / or physical barrier systems. 

Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and best practices 

Proficiency in CAD software or other technical tools for reviewing and presenting designs.
