We are looking for a dedicated and energetic Sales Engineer to join the Sales Engineering team in Business Unit Propulsion. The ideal person for the role would be a technical and commercial professional who likes working in an international environment and have maritime background and interests.
As a Sales Engineer you be involved in multiple sales projects configuring solutions with products as Thrusters, Propellers, Gearboxes, Waterjets and Propulsion Control Systems. Together with the Sales Manager you will cover the whole scope from the early sales phase, up to the sales offering and deal transfer to the project execution team.
To ensure the best value proposition and Propulsion configuration, you will be coordinating the technical bid with our global front-line sales force, the different product groups in Business Unit Propulsion and with other business units like Power Supply for multiportfolio offerings. Your technical and commercial skills play a critical role for propulsion opportunities towards our customers.
This position is preferably located in Shanghai, China. Due to the international character of this job, you will be working with customers, Sales Managers and other Sales Engineers around the world. Willingness to travel occasionally is required.
What are your main tasks and responsibilities?
Define and tailor the technical content and scope of solutions, based on discussions with our customers and / or front-line sales force Engage in technical discussions with counterpart technical experts from ship yards, ship owners and design companies Create the technical bid, including the formulation of technical and commercial documentation for solution proposals based on customer requirements Provide technical expertise in the sales phase and support the Sales Teams Prepare technical solutions and cost and sales price calculations for components, sub-assemblies, installation and commissioning activities and training Coordinate the order transfer from Sales and Sales Engineering to the Project and Engineering execution team
What do we expect from you?
You have a passion for exploring technical and commercial solutions to provide value towards our customers. You hold a Bachelor degree in Naval Architecture, Shipbuilding, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combined with a good understanding of the maritime industry You have strong analytical thinking capability and excellent communication skills in English, verbal and written You are persuasive explaining technical solutions You are capable handling multiple sales projects simultaneously You are independent and show initiative with an entrepreneurial drive You are able to switch priorities fast based on customer requirements You are cost conscious and have a good feeling for numbers A minimum of 2 years working as a (sales) engineer in the marine industry is required
