Position Summary
The Sales Engineer plays a crucial role in driving sales productivity and deal flow by executing a tailored technical solution in complex sales opportunities. This position ensures that proposed solutions meet customer needs and are supported by the customer's Buyer Decision Team, ultimately contributing to the company's growth and success. You will collaborate across all sales verticals, and technical support resources to ensure proposed deals include technical solutions that accurately address customer needs and are appropriately supported by the customer’s Buyer Decision Team. The position will support a sales team in all sales opportunities that require a high level of technical acumen and expertise.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
+ Client Focus: Work collaboratively with clients and prospective clients to create a shared technical vision, real world examples, and concrete solutions that meet their needs, resulting in increased customer satisfaction and retention.
+ Sales Process: Coordinate and quarterback key sales activities within the internal sales process to align solution design with customers' business requirements, leading to higher conversion rates and shorter sales cycles.
+ Sales Department Goals: Meet assigned targets for profitable sales growth in assigned product lines, market areas, channels, or teams, contributing to the overall revenue growth of the company.
+ Discovery to Risk Management: Work deals assigned to the sales team, directing and prioritizing effort based on maximizing total impact on team productivity and profit, ensuring efficient use of resources and higher deal closure rates.
+ Solution Workshop: Perform web and/or onsite demos with the sales team, showcasing the value of our solutions and driving customer engagement.
+ Sales Team Development: Provide training, coaching, and professional development to team member sales associates to enhance their product knowledge, technical acumen, and technical sales skills, fostering a high-performing sales team.
+ Sales Policy and Procedures: Assist in the development and deliverables to support the Sales Operational Structure, ensuring consistency and efficiency in sales operations.
+ Product Demonstration: Be able to demonstrate solutions effectively on one product line, highlighting key features and benefits to potential customers.
Requirements
+ Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred): A degree in engineering, information systems, business administration, or a related area providing a strong foundation for technical sales success.
+ Experience: Two to five years of relevant experience in technical sales, demonstrating a proven track record of success in similar roles.
+ Team Environment: Ability to work within a high-energy sales team environment, contributing to a collaborative and dynamic workplace.
+ Technical Skills: Proven technology skills, process engineering, outstanding interpersonal abilities, and strong written/verbal communication and presentation skills, ensuring effective customer interactions and solution presentations.
+ Enterprise Infrastructure: A working knowledge of enterprise infrastructure, enabling you to understand and address complex customer needs.
+ Achievement: A record of achievement and solution-technical expertise in a comparable sales role, showcasing your ability to drive results.
+ Sales Cycle Understanding: An understanding of the solution-technical aspects of the sales cycle, implementation process, customer support, and the impact of add-ons or integrations, ensuring seamless customer experiences.
+ Strategy Formulation: Experience in formulating strategies to integrate technical elements into a B2B sales presentation, enhancing the effectiveness of sales pitches.
+ SaaS Solutions: Experience with Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions and/or web-based solutions, aligning with the company's product offerings.
+ Business Intelligence: Strong knowledge of Business Intelligence solutions, enabling you to provide valuable insights to customers.
+ Startup Environment: Experience working in a startup-like environment (unstructured, ambiguous, resource-constrained, fast-paced), demonstrating your adaptability and problem-solving skills.
+ Action Plan: Experience building an action plan, laying out goals, strategies, tactics, and timelines, ensuring a structured approach to achieving sales targets.
+ Transition Coordination: Experience coordinating the transition between pre-sales specifications and implementation engineering once contracts have been awarded, ensuring smooth project handovers.
+ Problem Solving: Ability to listen, ask questions, build consensus, and solve ambiguous problems, ensuring customer satisfaction and successful deal closures.
+ Organization and Communication: Exceptional organization and communication skills, enabling you to manage multiple tasks and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
+ Travel: Ability to travel as needed, ensuring you can meet with clients and attend industry events.
