Founded in 1978, United Agri Products (UAP) is a Product Management company of agricultural and non-crop inputs in Canada, working with world class global manufactures to bring innovative solutions to the Canadian grower. We are a division of Nutrien, who is a leading global producer and distributor of fertilizers and other agricultural products and services.
Under the leadership of the Division General Manager, this position is accountable for the overall management, development and financial success of defined sub-trading area within the scope of an area.
What you will do:
• Oversee the sales of a designated area, including inventory, receivables, product delivery and sales.
• Meet or exceed Profit and Loss objectives for the assigned selling areas.
• Ensures all business units effectively promote UAP key products for the Division and develop strategies to achieve expected levels of sales and growth.
• Provide coaching and leadership to sales staff to assure that sales and margin objectives are met. Provide direction to increase client base and improve profitability.
• Ensure business units are optimizing inventory to meet client’s requirements while maintaining appropriate turns.
• Reviews and analyzes progress towards the achievement of sales forecasts and operational objectives on a regular basis, and initiates action as required. Ensures accurate sales forecasts and expected results.
• Responsible for all aspects of human resource management within the business unit including hiring, promoting, performance management, coaching and discharging within company policy and regulatory compliance
• Supports General Manager in the preparation of all budget and forecasting processes.
• Complies and enforces all Nutrien and industry regulatory and safety, health, and environment standards.
• Ensures standards are met for inventory control, cycle counts and annual audit process.
• Performs other related duties as required.
What you will bring:
• Agricultural or Commerce based degree or equivalent experience of 5 years.
• Five (5) to seven (7) years of demonstrated successful experience of retail supply, and/or marketing. Three (3) years of this experience must have been in a management capacity.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
• Ability to complete a Criminal Background Check, Drug & Alcohol Testing, and Driving Record Abstract as required by Nutrien Inc. policies.
• Strong ability to lead and manage people, exceptional coaching, and motivational skills.
• Ability to work autonomously with limited guidance from others.
• Proven knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the agriculture industry as well as the application of agricultural & specialty chemicals.
• High degree of oral and written communication capabilities and strong listening skills.
• Strategic thinker, ability to develop and execute sales growth plans across multiple business units.
• Required knowledge/understanding of branch operations and equipment.
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) and company agronomic programs.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Travel is required.
