Sales & Service Technician I        Summary   Installs, maintains and/or repairs PBX, key systems, network, special customer equipment and facilities along with POTS and carrier systems/circuits.       General Duties   Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:    Diagnose and repair faults in digital field equipmentRepair, test, run jumpers and verify connections on Main Distribution Frame (MDF)Install, maintain, update and document special circuits and facilitiesInstall, maintain and repair field equipment that provides Voice Data, ISDN Circuits, XDSL, Video, VoIP and Data NetworkingBecome familiar with/learn the operation of equipment and technologies (existing and new)Work with other departments to test and resolve customer problems, provide information to complete jobs, work orders and service orders, coordinate with assignments as neededPerforms installation and maintenance of PBX, key system equipment and stations requiring inside wiring, single line and multiple line business station equipment and associated apparatusProcess repair and return of electronic circuit cards/equipmentInterface with internal/external customers in a professional manner to coordinate and disseminate information to complete job assignments and attain service objectivesSupport and actively participate in promotion of company products and servicesWhile performing the above functions may be required to identify and repair facilities outside of the customer’ s equipment location up to and including the central office/pair gain unit, special service circuit shelf/channel equipment and frames.Building security and housekeepingAids and assist other departments and contractors as requiredPerforms all other duties/assignments as required by supervisor Performs all duties associated with Sales & Service Tech II and other related duties including recognizing and pursuing potential revenue producing opportunities.   Basic Qualifications   A minimum of 5 years telecommunications experience is preferred.Must be proficient at installing, maintaining and repairing telephony circuits and field equipmentMust have basic knowledge of T-carrier, fiber optic and special circuitsMust have basic knowledge of voice Data, ISDN Circuits, DSL, Video and Data Networking productsAt least 2 year post-high school training course in electronics, telecommunications or related discipline and/or have equivalent experience is preferred.Must have successfully completed Basic Electronics/Digital Electronics screening or have equivalent certificationMust be proficient on the PC with emphasis on Windows environment; must possess basic math skillsMust be able to look at current processes/procedures and find better ways to improve the end resultMust be able to work independently; must be a good team playerMust have a sense of integrity and urgency for completing tasksMust demonstrate good oral and written communicationMust operate a motor vehicle and hold a valid DLNetwork+ and A+ certification preferredMust be able to distinguish colorsMust be able to climb poles and/or ladders up to 50 feet highMust be able to lift 30-50 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds infrequentlyMust be able to work outside in extreme conditions including inclement weatherMust be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods on a regular basis; job also normally requires pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping, crawling and manual dexterityMust be available for after-hours call-out/weekend work, rotation and emergency situations (24/7)
