Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Sales & Use Tax Accountant to assist with managing tax compliance and addressing backlog filings. This contract position is based in Saint Louis, Missouri, and offers an opportunity to contribute to critical accounting functions within a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will have expertise in tax systems and processes, ensuring timely and accurate filings. Responsibilities: • Review and process sales and use tax returns to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations. • Address and resolve backlog property and sales tax filings efficiently and effectively. • Utilize tools such as CCH ProSystem Fx and CCH Sales Tax to prepare and file tax documents. • Maintain proper documentation of tax filings and ensure records are up to date. • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely submission of monthly and quarterly tax filings. • Monitor and analyze tax compliance to identify and address potential discrepancies. • Provide support for audits and inquiries related to sales and use taxes. • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance. • Leverage Vertex Sales & Use Tax software for accurate tax calculations and reporting. Requirements • Proven experience in accounting functions, with a focus on sales and use tax. • Proficiency in tax software such as CCH ProSystem Fx, CCH Sales Tax, and Vertex Sales & Use Tax. • Strong knowledge of tax compliance requirements and regulations. • Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve backlog filings effectively. • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. • Effective communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and stakeholders. • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
