Sales & Use Tax Consultant

Position Summary
Our client, a global leader in the production of best-in-class specialty chemicals and solutions, is seeking to engage a skilled and experienced Sales and Use Tax Senior, Lead or Manager to assist their Finance team and contribute to their continued growth and success. This is a hands-on contract to POSSIBLE hire role that will ensure sales and use tax compliance across multiple states. Candidate must be local to the Milwaukee, WI area.
Essential Duties
• Initially, individual will perform clean-up work for Sales/Use and VAT tax areas.
• Develop and put new processes in place, with a focus on automating reports and accurately reconciling accounts.
• Provide data, reports, and additional information to outsourced tax compliance firm.
• Review the tax returns that the outsourced tax firm prepares and help to manage that relationship.
• Review the tax provision that's prepared by outsourced tax firm.
• Provide guidance internally regarding sales and use tax questions or issues.
• Research new sales and use tax regulations and stay abreast of tax law changes.
• Handle additional tax duties, including property tax, tax accounting, and tax reporting.
• Participate in special projects as needed.
Position Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
• MST or CPA is a big plus.
• 5 or more years of experience in accounting or tax at a business or Big 4 public accounting/audit/tax firm supporting similar sized companies.
• Prior knowledge and experience with - sales/use tax, income tax, tax provision, etc.
• Experience filing sales tax in multiple states.
• Prior experience using OneSource Tax Provision and OneSource Income Tax software.
• Manufacturing and/or Chemicals industry experience.
• Strong tax research skills.
• Ability to work with others in a team environment; demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative style.
• Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop collaborative approaches.
• Demonstrates ability to identify and recommend process improvements.
• Demonstrates the ability to use sound judgment and discretion regarding confidential information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written) to present positions to both accounting and non-accounting associates.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and / or as part of a team.
• Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail, problem solving and follow through.
Travel Requirements: As needed to meet service-level requirements and for required business meetings

Salary range $60 - $75/hr W2. The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on the education, experience, location and skill set of the individual selected for this position.
