The Role

As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Sample Coordinator to support testing.

The Sample Coordinator will work in a team environment on sample acquisition, related handling, and proper inventory management to ensure samples are available for testing purposes.

This position is onsite full-time in Rochester, NY.

The Position

Liaison between vendors and scientists to obtain sample procurement needs and sending samples for external reference testing.Utilize Compliance System to create and maintain master service agreements and standard work orders for vendors.Utilize Ariba to create purchase orders for sample procurement.Receipt and reconciliation of incoming sample shipments from outside vendors.Management of sample inventory within the LabWare database.Receipt and processing of requests for sample retrieval from the biorepository.File documentation.Daily walk throughs of labs to verify equipment and tie Regulated Medical Waste.Weekly collection of lab coats.Assist on the R&D Safety Team.Work in compliance with all regulatory requirements and SOPs.Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

The Individual

Required:

Associate’s degree with a minimum of 2 years’ experience or combination of equivalent education and experience.Basic understanding of laboratory samples, their use, handling, and storage requirements.Familiarity with safe chemical and biological handlingFamiliar with Good Laboratory Practices and Laboratory SafetyBasic software application knowledge
Experience coordinating with outside vendors and managing purchase ordersExcellent verbal and written communication skillsSelf-motivated and willing to take initiativeAttention to detail is critical.This position is not currently eligible for visa sponsorship. 

Preferred:

Experience with basic lab skills such as pipetting, spiking, diluting, etc.Experience reviewing contracts with outside vendors

The Work Environment

The work environment characteristics are representative of a manufacturing, laboratory, or warehouse environment and include handling of viral and bacterial hazards, potentially hazardous chemicals, as well as infectious or potentially infectious bodily fluids, tissues, and samples. May have to preform testing in environmental chamber or work in cold rooms. Possible on-call requirements to meet business needs.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift up to 25lbs, walking, standing, and sitting for long periods of time are routine to accomplish tasks in this role.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to work in environmental chamber and/or cold rooms.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $22.00 to $27.00/hour.
