Job Description
Responsible for inputting samples into the computer database and weighing certain samples in their original form according to specific policies. You will be required to communicate with testing departments for clarification on testing requirements and be flexible to adapt to new methods for processing sample loads.
ResponsibilitiesInput samples into the computer database.Weigh samples in their original form according to specific policies (approximately 15% of received samples).Perform data entry of client-specific requirements for testing (e.g., PO numbers, identification properties).Communicate with specific testing departments for clarification on required tests (e.g., vitamin testing, lipids testing).Adapt to new methods for processing sample loads as the group continuously learns and evolves.Essential SkillsProficiency in Biology, Laboratory, Microbiology, media, aseptic technique, plating, and sterile technique.Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Positive attitude and strong work ethic.Additional Skills & QualificationsAAS or BA degree in Microbiology, Food Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.Comfortable working independently and with a team.Willingness to learn and train on new techniques.Ability to work extra hours when required (potential of 45-50 hours per week).Work Environment
Work schedule is Tuesday to Saturday, with shifts from 12:30 PM - 9 PM Tuesday to Friday and 9 AM - 5:30 PM on Saturday. This is a 5-month contract-to-hire position. The work environment is fast-paced and time-sensitive, with potential for overtime based on workload. The department focuses on microbiology testing of pet food, ingredients, nutraceuticals, and food dyes. Candidates should be comfortable standing for long periods and performing repetitive tasks. Lab-appropriate attire, including long pants, closed-toe shoes, lab coat, and safety glasses, is required and provided. The team has an all-hands-on-deck attitude, and candidates should be prepared to assist with various tasks from sample preparation to testing.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $16.50 - $18.56
