Job Summary
Sample Specialist works closely with Technical Design, Patterns & Marking, Quality, Process Engineering, and others as needed to ensure for styles being developed specifications yield the desired product and facilitates preparation for bulk production. The Sample Specialist reviews in detail specifications accompanying sample requests, documents and communicates discovered issues and opportunities, and assists in creating physical samples for evaluation.

Representative Responsibilities
Reviews sample request and specifications ensuring request is fully understood and seeks clarification if not
Obtains required materials or requests use of appropriate substitute materials to create requested samples
Evaluates material and construction specifications as well as proposed methods relative to creating requested samples and bulk production, documenting issues or improvement opportunities discovered
Ensures issues or improvement opportunities are communicated to the appropriate associate or department to rectify or to take advantage of
Creates physical samples as requested performing any required operations as directed based on established Carhartt standards
Stays informed of changes to quality requirements and applies when creating physical samples
Actively seeks to improve knowledge and operation of equipment used in the sample unit and at Carhartt production facilities
Coordinate any sample pattern changes by assisting the Manager with analyzing what and how to make changes, implementing the changes, and reviewing the final results.
Identify opportunities to reduce cost during sample process with method, process, or utilization improvements, etc. Make suggestions on such to management
Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Required Skills & Experience
2 years’ experience minimum in an industrial sewing environment
Skilled with operating various classes and types of sewing production equipment (e.g. lockstitch, chainstitch, serge, buttonhole, etc.) experience with folders a plus
Meets or exceeds productivity and quality output in production environment
Must be able to work with minimum direction and supervision
Must be willing to work in a collaborative team environment focused on solving problems
Ability to handle a variety of tasks at one time, maintain composure in stressful situations, and be detail oriented, accurate and organized
