In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.

Job Description

As our Sampler, your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Safe and Healthy Work EnvironmentAdhere to all health and safety practices requirements.Promote good housekeeping to ensure compliance and an environment where team members can deliver their outputs within a controlled risk environment.Active participation in SLAMs, HPHs, relevant Risk Assessments and close-out of Safety Actions.Performance and DeliverySampling CoordinationCollect samples from open pit operations on an ad hoc basis.Conduct sampling processes in accordance with company policies and procedures within specified timeframes.Capture and record all relevant sampling criteria for effective sample handling and identification.Crush and spilt samples according to specified sizes for quality assurance.Ensure proper sampling from all exploration areas, including the red permit region, to support management decision-making.Delineation (applicable to Production Geology):

o Delineation of blast blocks - walking on muck piles.

o Preparing delineation boards and poles with stickers to indicate material classes

o Pegging of RC Drill holes in the pit.

Quality AssuranceConduct QA/QC checks on captured samples and ensure accurate data collection in all exploration areas.Equipment OperationOperate the LDV for the movement of samples and materials as needed.Use crushing equipment effectively to prepare ore samples for quality checks.Maintain the functionality of all equipment through regular cleaning and inspection.Sample HandlingLoad and unload sample boxes, ensuring accurate painting and labelling.Pack sample boxes into racks according to standard procedures.HousekeepingPerform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and contamination-free environment.Ensure equipment is regularly checked and cleaned to prevent pollution.General AssistanceProvide support to the line manager and colleagues as necessary, following company policies and procedures.Conduct environmental inspections for drill sites and roads, including post-rehabilitation assessments and photography for data collection.Assist with any ad-hoc tasks as required.OutputsConformance to instructionsTimely and accurate demarcation preparationUsing Crusher Equipment Operate LDV Using a PC/Laptop to capture data as required Accuracy of labelling Accuracy of sampling data Timely sampling Timely delivery of samples Conformance to standards, regulations and rules Storing of samples Performing the task using applicable equipment Cleanliness of work environment Cleanliness of equipment Safety rating Incident/accident rate ComplianceDemand for assistance Number of complaints

 

This role is in Geology NC Hub Department on a band P5 level reporting to the Geological Technician/Exploration Geologist/Geometallurgical Geologist/Geotechnician.

QualificationsGrade 12Licenses to Operate LDVsSA Drivers License Code B

Technical Knowledge

2-3 years of relevant experience in sampling in the mining industry.Understand laboratory equipment and chemical substances.
