The Division of General Internal Medicine & Geriatrics is actively building an integrated team practice model for delivering high quality medical care and service to the patients we serve, including transitional care of hospitalized patients. The successful candidate must have demonstrated ability to work with a team of health care providers and collaborate to achieve clinical care goals. Our practice also includes innovative models for delivering structured care to populations of patients with chronic conditions. Candidates with an interest in and experience with chronic care models of health care, coordination of care of complex patients in various settings, and continuous practice improvement will receive priority consideration. Our practice is recognized by the State of Oregon as a Tier 4 Patient Centered Primary Care Home and a Comprehensive Primary Care Plus clinic site.
Function/Duties of PositionFaculty in the Division of General Internal Medicine & Geriatrics participate actively in teaching medical students, residents, fellows, and each other.
This position is intended for graduates of Internal Medicine residencies for whom research in medical education, health services or a clniical area of focus will provide goal-directed career development. This position will include interim care and a coverage clinic. This position is designed to increase after-hours and same day appointment access for practice’s patients as well as increase our overall patient access. Communication skills and the ability to collaborate with other clinicians in our practice is essential. Experience in primary care preferred. Must be board-eligible/board-certified in Internal Medicine. Ability to be self-directed and independently motivated towards achieving goals of fellowship.
Key responsibilities include:
Co-precepting 1-2 half-days per week, supervising residents in their care of patients; this may include solo precepting as well as necessaryContribute to ambulatory education of students and residents as necessaryDesign, execute and present/prepare for submission at least 1 IRB approved research projectPresent scholarly projects at the DGIM&G Research in Progress meeting and at other regional/national meetings as appropriate.Participate in the Education Scholars Program and/or OHSU Human Investigations/Masters in Clinical Research ProgramOther scholarly and clinical experiences designed in coordination with the fellowship director, as appropriate to the fellow’s specific area of interest.Contribute positively to the DGIM&G group Required Qualifications MD or DOABIM board certified or board eligibleSuccessful completion of ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency ProgramNew graduated considered All are welcome Oregon Health & Science University values a diverse and culturally competent workforce.
