GENERAL PURPOSE
The Sanding Operations Technician is responsible for preparing wood furniture for the finishing process using appropriate tools and techniques. This position requires attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to follow precise instructions to ensure the highest quality standards are met.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Use manual tools, and powered sanding tools to sand wood furniture, ensuring surfaces are smooth and prepared for finishing.
Read production tickets and interpret specifications to understand sanding requirements for each furniture piece.
Repair minor defects in wood frames using appropriate tools and materials.
Use measuring tools, such as tape measures, to verify frame dimensions for accuracy.
Process orders and requests for different brands using various operating systems.
Assist with inventory counts to ensure accurate tracking of materials.
Notify the manager of required materials and supplies to maintain uninterrupted operations.
Follow all safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
Cross-train in other areas of the department to develop additional skills and support operational needs.
Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

Education/Experience
One of the following is required: (1) High school diploma or its equivalent (GED for example), (2) work experience which demonstrates performance competency
Skills and Abilities
Ability to work cooperatively within a team to meet goals and deadlines.
Competent in basic math skills for measuring and verifying dimensions.
Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity to perform intricate sanding tasks.
Ability to adapt to changing work environments and learn new processes.
Effective communication skills to report supply needs and collaborate with team members.

Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with or without accommodations.
Ability to stand, walk, and use hands for sanding tasks for the duration of the shift.
Regularly lift and move up to 10 lbs, frequently lift and move up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift and move up to 40 lbs.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
