Sanitation Lead

As a Sanitation Team Lead, you will support the Sanitation Supervisor on guiding team members on the proper techniques of cleaning production equipment, machines and work areas of our food manufacturing facility. You will be responsible for handling and preparing cleaning chemicals, sanitizers, chemical concentrations, and handling and storing the chemicals. The sanitation team lead is expected to report any potential contamination issues and any safety concerns that may arise as part of the sanitation process.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:

\n

• Provides leadership to team members to execute cleaning and sanitizing to an effective level as instructed by Sanitation Management.

\n

• Partners with sanitation management to troubleshoot sanitation problems; recommending changes to improve sanitation policies, procedures, and cleaning effectiveness.

\n

• Ensures the necessary sanitation oversight and resources are available to fully support the operation.

\n

• Implements and promotes chemical/sanitation safety programs and safe work practices through active participation in safety meetings.

\n

• Supporting the development of sanitation workers through effective training.

\n

• Alerts senior management on major issues.

\n

• Perform daily sanitation of all processing lines.

\n

• Promotes a safe work environment through knowledge of the sanitation program and commitment to a safe workplace for all.

\n

• Ensure product safety and product defense in the plant.

\n

• Maintain and clean water lines.

\n

• Coordinates all daily sanitation activities within the plant.

\n

• Follows all GMP and HACCP procedures that relate to cleanliness and product safety with the facility.

\n

• Responsible for managing and reporting need for supply of cleaning chemicals necessary for the operation of the cleaning program and in compliance with OSHA and all plant regulations.

\n

• Assists operations to maintain the highest rating possible on all audits and inspections.

\n

• Supports all Food Safety initiatives

\n

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

\n

• Instills a culture of accountability within the sanitation team.

\n

• Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills including root cause analysis, risk assessment and corrective action.

\n

• Proven ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure is required.

\n

• Self-directed with the ability to work independently as well as with groups.

\n

• Ability to effectively plan, organize and prioritize work.

\n

• Ability to train, maintain and promote a safe work environment.

\n

• Read and understand HACCP along with FDA and OSHA requirements as needed

\n

• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment is required.

\n

• Flexible to work weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed.

\n

• Proven ability to communicate effectively, appropriately, and respectfully with each member of the organization is required.

\n

• Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.

\n

• Knowledge of sanitation processes and procedures is strongly preferred.

\n

Education & Experience:

\n

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

\n

• Prior experience in a leadership role or equivalent leadership training preferred. 

\n

Working Conditions:

\n

• Work is performed in a food processing plant with a high noise level, storage coolers/facilities.

\n

• Position requires working around processing plant equipment.

\n

• Must be physically capable of working extended hours if needed and in a wet environment, standing for long periods of time, and operating processing equipment.

\n

• Ability to lift up to 80lbs.

\n
