Job Summary:
\r\n\r\n\r\nDirects safety activities occurring during the sanitation shift in processing plant location. Supervises training staff to ensure compliance with directives and procedures. Monitors, implements, and provides oversight for the organization’s safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA and other applicable laws.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nEvaluates sanitation safety programs, policies, procedures, facilities, and equipment to identify potential risks and implement safeguards and solutions.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nConducts routine internal audits to ensure all employees are knowledgeable and aware of all safety requirements and follow established policies and procedures.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nCommunicates and collaborates regularly with all levels of employees on a preemptive time frame to help drive the importance of safety and protection of employees
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nConducts safety training for sanitation shift workers. Reviews and recommends continued training and education of employees in safe and efficient work methods.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nReviews accidents and incidents occurring to employees. Ensures that root cause analysis is used in determining reasons for accidents. Instructs supervisors on the basics of root cause analysis. Will act as lead facilitator for all acute incident investigations.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nManagement of incident corrective actions through follow-up and cooperation of supervisor. Coordinates and follows up to ensure that modifications/improvements are completed within established time frames.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nDevelops, maintains, and modifies safety procedures including job safety analysis for sanitation positions within the organization
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nRequires highly visible presence on the floor, spending approximately 75% of time on the floor
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nProvides resources for Safety Committee meetings.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAssists Complex Safety Manager in facility auditing program and follow-up programs. Ensures follow up and documentation of findings are completed within established frame frames.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nEnsure that annual reviews of various policies, procedures, and forms are completed in support of the Complex Safety Manager and the Safety File Plan.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAll other tasks assigned by the Complex Safety Manager.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Characteristics
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nBasic knowledge of poultry or meat sanitation processes and safety procedures preferred.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nWorking knowledge of life-safety codes, OSHA and other regulatory agencies, WC laws and familiarity with occupational health.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nMust be able to convey information effectively in writing, presentations, and verbally.
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAbility to work effectively with limited supervision
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAbility to manage various priorities simultaneously
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nUse of computers to communicate, collect and analyze data, and for presentations, proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, etc.) and other operations applications
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nBasic knowledge of Industrial Hygiene practices
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nBilingual in English and Spanish preferred
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Education & Experience:
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nDegree in Environmental Health or Health and Safety or 3-5 years prior Safety Supervision/Management Experience
\r\n\r\n\r\nWorking knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, NEC, ANSI regulations
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
