Job Summary: The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for directing and supervising the cleaning of plant production equipment and facilities to ensure compliance with food safety requirements as mandated by federal, state, and local regulations, as well as DFA standards. This role ensures that employees adhere to company policies and procedures, maintaining sanitation quality and departmental efficiencies at or above established standards. The Sanitation Supervisor supports the commitment to continual improvement in Food Safety and Quality programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the day-to-day sanitation of equipment and facilities.Train employees, plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.Develop and document cleaning procedures, including SSOPs and cleaning logs.Train and document all sanitation workers on the safe operation and disassembly of equipment.Ensure compliance with all safety rules and standards, including the proper use of personal protective equipment while ensuring food safety and quality control specifications are met.Ensure compliance with all company GMPs.Collaborate with management and chemical suppliers on chemical and process changes to improve sanitation results and reduce costs.Supervise, motivate, and train sanitation production workers.Work closely with R&D and Quality Assurance on all sanitation issues concerning production, new products, special runs, etc.Ensure that quality, productivity, and food safety issues are met.
Perform other duties as assigned.Qualification Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience in the food industry; food industry sanitation experience preferred.Ability to read and interpret documents such as MSDS, safety rules, and procedure manuals; ability to write reports; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage when preparing cleaning chemicals.Proficient in using a personal computer with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Education and Experience:Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent preferred; HACCP certification preferred.A minimum of 2 years in a similar role; experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.Skilled in analytical, critical, inductive, and deductive logic and reasoning.Occasionally required to conduct meetings or lead group discussions.
