Summary The Sanitation Team Member performs a variety of essential tasks to assist in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards to enable the production of safe and high-quality cheese products. Responsibilities include activities such as maintaining a clean and sanitary environment throughout the facility, adhering to strict food safety regulations, and following standard operating procedures. The primary goal is to support the production team by keeping the facility clean, organized, and free from potential contaminants. Duties and Responsibilities • Performing cleaning and sanitation of all areas in the food manufacturing facility, including production lines, equipment, tools, floors, walls, and storage areas.• Monitor flow rates, time, temperature, steps and conductivity of CIP system. • Follow standard cleaning procedures and guidelines to meet food safety regulations and maintain a sanitary environment.• Remove waste and debris from production areas and dispose of it in designated containers according to waste management protocols. • Disassemble and reassemble equipment as needed for proper cleaning and sanitization.• Conduct chemical test levels on COP and CIP tanks daily. • Stock and rotate chemicals in storage area; ensure chemical containers are properly labeled, remove and store empty containers properly.• Safely and efficiently handle and use cleaning agents, sanitizers, and equipment effectively and safely to achieve optimal cleanliness and prevent cross-contamination.• Document cleaning activities, including logs, checklist, and records, as required by regulatory agencies and internal quality control standards. • Record daily chemical use in the CIP log.• Ensure CIP charts are changed daily and are operating correctly. • Attending training sessions on sanitation procedures, safety protocols, and new cleaning techniques.• Adhere to ERU food safety policies and all government food safety and sanitation regulations. (ex. FDA, HACCP, GMP, OSHA) • Adheres to safety guidelines and complies with all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). • Identifies and reports potential safety hazards to ensure a safe working environment.• Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifications • Previous experience in sanitation or janitorial work in a food processing environment is preferred but not required.• Ability to read and interpret work instructions.• Attention to detail and commitment to a high-quality sanitation environment.• Physical stamina to perform physical requirements of the job, including standing, bending, lifting, and working in varying temperatures.• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adaptable to change.• Ability to work overtime or extended shifts as needed.• Excellent teamwork skills.• Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices is a plus.• Ability to adhere to strict personal hygiene practices, including wearing designated work attire and personal protective equipment (PPE).
