Sanitation Technician

If you are passionate about personal and professional growth and see yourself as a key player contributing to our continued success by working in our award-winning company – we would love to hear from you. **Summary** The Sanitation Technician works with the Sanitation Supervisor and supporting kitchen personnel to ensure effectiveness of the sanitation program. Supports company initiatives to achieve goals and objectives set by our BAFRINO mandate and the Champion Petfoods vision “to be trusted by pet lovers worldwide.” **Job Duties** + Supports the cleaning and sanitation program and the environmental program. + Carry out routine and non-routine cleaning tasks. + Collect environmental and cleaning verification samples. + Assist in the remediation, root cause analysis, and preventive measures of out of specification samples. + Coordinates the activities of cleaning groups/contract sanitation, ensuring that the facility is in compliance with all food sanitation standards. + Oversee the proper operation of multiple CIP circuits. + Responsible for completing sanitization documentation on time and correctly. + Utilizes ATP testing to verify CIP effectiveness and equipment cleanliness. + Responsible for overseeing the maintenance and hygiene of all sanitation equipment. + Assists with pest control risk assessments and facilitates the closure of pest management issues as they occur. + Responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of the Master Sanitation Schedule. + Track and trend task completion for each area. + Trend gaps in item completion to identify root cause and corrective actions. + Assists with the creation, completion, and validation of equipment cleaning SOPs. + Manages and tracks chemical inventory, area specific usage, and chemical concentration verification. + Assist with all 3rd party and regulatory audits. + Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with established corporate policies, procedures and health and safety regulations. + Leads by example utilizing the Company’s Core Values (TRAIL) as the basis of critical decisions. This includes following Company policies, standards and specifications. + Responsible for the knowledge, understanding, and enforcement of all company policies and regulations. Works to ensure BAFRINO Mission, Vision, Core Values and Culture is understood and followed by all employees, starting with her/his behavior of leading by example. + Support and represent the Company in community sponsored events. + Perform additional assignments as per the Sanitation Supervisor or Quality Manager’s direction. **Requirements** + Minimum of 1 year required in sanitation or Food Safety. + Knowledge of manufacturing processes, GMPs, Food Safety, HACCP, and Quality. + Knowledge of process control and general food manufacturing principles. + Ability to set priorities, utilize and coordinate resources of a small group of team members to effectively complete cleaning tasks. + Demonstrated ability to work independently or effectively as part of a team across organizational boundaries and with diverse teams within a manufacturing environment. + Proficient in documentation and workflow. + Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills. **Working Conditions** + 24/7 availability and overtime may be required. + Willing to work any shift as necessary. + Willingness to adhere to strict quality and safety standards. + Travel to off-site locations may be required. + Exposure to a pet food production environment that includes dust, noise, odors, and/or fluctuating temperatures. **Physical Demands** + Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. **Come as you are.** We value diversity in all forms and know the power it can bring. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, if eligible, including variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Eligibility for these additional elements depend on the position offered and the employee’s work schedule (i.e., part-time schedule, store associate).
