The Sanitation Technician plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary production environment. This position is responsible for cleaning production equipment, machines, and work areas, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. Responsibilities include handling and preparing cleaning chemicals, sanitizing equipment, preparing chemical concentrations, managing chemical spills, conducting dry clean-up, and disposing of waste materials. The role requires working in a fast-paced environment with exposure to chemicals, large processing equipment, and extreme temperatures.

 

Accountabilities.

The Sanitation Technician is responsible for ensuring that all cleaning and sanitation tasks meet the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and quality. This role plays a vital part in maintaining a compliant and hygienic facility that supports production and operational goals.

 

Key Accountabilities

Sanitation Standards & Compliance: Adhere to all company sanitation procedures, ensuring that cleaning and disinfecting meet regulatory and food safety standards.

Efficiency & Effectiveness: Complete sanitation tasks thoroughly and within assigned timeframes to maintain operational efficiency.

Safety & Hazard Prevention: Follow all safety protocols, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and report any safety concerns, spills, or hazards immediately.

Proper Handling of Chemicals & Equipment: Mix, store, and apply cleaning chemicals correctly, ensuring compliance with handling procedures and safety regulations.

Collaboration & Teamwork: Work effectively with supervisors and teammates to coordinate sanitation tasks and minimize disruptions to production.

Equipment Maintenance & Care: Operate, clean, and store sanitation tools and equipment properly to ensure functionality and longevity.

Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of sanitation activities and promptly report any equipment malfunctions or non-compliance issues.

Continuous Improvement: Identify and communicate opportunities for improving sanitation processes to enhance efficiency and safety.

 

This role requires attention to detail, accountability, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and compliant work environment. A successful Sanitation Technician takes ownership of their responsibilities and ensures the facility remains safe, sanitary, and production-ready at all times.

 

Qualifications.

The Sanitation Technician must demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant work environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.

 

Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Previous experience in sanitation, janitorial, food processing, or industrial cleaning preferred but not required.

Experience working in manufacturing or food production environments is a plus.

Familiarity with sanitation chemicals, equipment, and safety procedures is beneficial.

 

Skills & Competencies

Attention to Detail: Ensures thorough and effective cleaning to meet safety and regulatory standards.

Time Management: Completes sanitation tasks within required timeframes to minimize production downtime.

Safety Awareness: Follows all safety procedures, wears required PPE, and identifies potential hazards.

Chemical Handling: Understands how to properly mix, store, and use cleaning and sanitizing agents.

Equipment Operation: Ability to operate and maintain sanitation tools such as floor scrubbers, pressure washers, and scissor lifts.

Communication Skills: Can read, write, and comprehend sanitation-related documents and effectively communicate with team members.

Teamwork & Flexibility: Works effectively with colleagues under changing conditions and varying tasks.

 

Certifications & Requirements

Scissor Lift Certification required (or willingness to obtain).

High Lift Certification required (or willingness to obtain).
