About the Role

 

We are looking for a motivated Java Developer Intern to support our project to move our in-house Java server to a cloud-based solution. This internship is perfect for university students who are eager to learn about cloud technologies and gain real-world experience. You will help the team with research and initial steps of the migration, work closely with experienced team members to understand project needs, join in planning discussions, and assist in building the migration strategy, especially focusing on web services. You will also learn about the security aspects of the new solution, including user management and access control.

What You’ll Do

 

Location: Sofia, Bulgaria (Mandatory office attendance 3 times a week) Schedule: 20/30/40 hours per week Targeted Start Date: 1st December 2024 Contract Length: 6 months Eligibility: Student status is mandatory

 

You will enhance your Java knowledge on different topics like working with files, exception handling, regular expressions, collections and algorithms, effective logging, and security principles. You will also learn database modeling, including a brief overview of relational algebra, and enhance your coding style with concepts from “Clean Code”, “Effective Java”, and “Design Patterns”.

We’re seeking university students who are eager to explore new technologies and have a cloud mindset. If that sounds like you, keep reading!

 

What You Bring

 

Initiative, perseverance, and a strong curiosity to learn. Fast learner with excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude. Current BSc or MSc students in Software Development, Engineering, or a related field. Fluent in English and Bulgarian with strong written and verbal communication skills. Self-organized, with good time management and the ability to contribute to and drive topics.

 

Role-Specific Qualifications

 

Common knowledge of Java Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), Data Structures, and Algorithms. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with Spring, Web services, or related technologies is considered an advantage. Familiarity with databases (specific knowledge in SQL is a plus).
