RTX has an opening for an SAP S/4 Data Retention and Archival Lead (Associate Director, Data Science and Analytics). 

The Data Retention and Archival Lead for the SAP ERP Program in the Aerospace & Defense (A&D) industry will develop, implement, and manage comprehensive data retention and archival strategies. This role will ensure that all data retention, archival, and deletion activities comply with legal, regulatory, and corporate policies, including defense-specific standards.

 

Additionally, the lead will be responsible for selecting, implementing, and managing the platforms and technologies necessary to support data retention and archival processes. This individual will work closely with IT, business units, and data governance teams to ensure secure, compliant, and efficient management of data across its lifecycle.

 

What You Will Do:

Data Retention Strategy:

Develop and manage a data retention and archival strategy tailored to the Aerospace & Defense sector, considering regulations like ITAR, DFARS, NIST, and other relevant standards.Define retention periods for various data types, ensuring compliance with both regulatory and business requirements, including the secure handling of classified and export-controlled data.Collaborate with legal, compliance, and business units to ensure alignment between business needs and retention requirements for sensitive A&D data.

Technology Selection and Implementation:

Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of technologies and platforms for data retention, archival, and retrieval.Ensure the chosen platforms integrate seamlessly with SAP S/4 HANA and other ERP systems, providing scalability, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements.Manage vendor relationships and oversee the implementation of new tools and technologies to support the data lifecycle and archival processes.

Data Archival Management:

Implement and oversee SAP ILM (Information Lifecycle Management) or other archival solutions to ensure secure storage and easy retrieval of data.Ensure critical records (e.g., defense contracts, technical data) are archived in compliance with DoD regulations and that archival solutions optimize SAP system performance while ensuring long-term data accessibility.Continuously monitor and refine archival processes to improve performance, security, and retrieval efficiency.

Compliance and Risk Management:

Ensure that all data retention and archival practices comply with regulations, including ITAR, DFARS, GDPR, and other global data privacy laws.Establish audit trails and reporting mechanisms for archived data, ensuring the organization meets defense and regulatory requirements.Implement and enforce data security protocols, ensuring sensitive or classified data is archived and accessed according to legal and regulatory standards.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:

Collaborate with SAP functional teams, IT, legal, and compliance teams to integrate the selected data retention and archival solutions within the SAP ERP landscape.Act as a liaison between business units and technical teams, ensuring that technology decisions support both operational and compliance needs.Provide training and support to business users on new tools, technologies, and workflows related to data retention and archival.

Data Lifecycle Management:

Oversee the data lifecycle, ensuring compliance with retention and deletion policies from data creation to destruction, with a focus on regulated and sensitive data.Automate data retention workflows, including triggers for archival, expiration notifications, and secure data deletion.Monitor and assess the effectiveness of data retention policies, ensuring that they are updated in line with regulatory changes and business needs.

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
