Sapphire Growth Tech II - 3rd Shift (10:00pm-6:30am)

With some supervision, you will operate sapphire crystal growth ASF and EFG equipment that grows sapphire boules and slabs. You'll participates in activities as directed to support functions in order for equipment and processes to run effectively. Under some supervision, fabricate optical blanks and optical parts from sapphire boules following established procedures utilizing one or more standard processes. This position is for 3rd shift, Tuesday-Saturday (10:00 pm-6:30am) (start & stop times may differ by +/- 1 hour).  This position may periodically require on-call support.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

With some supervision, operates sapphire crystal growth ASF and EFG equipment that grows sapphire boules and slabs Participates in activities, as directed, to support functions ir order for equipment and process to run effectively Under some supervision, may fabricate optical blanks and optical parts from sapphire boules following established procedures for one or more standard processes

 

Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 2 years experienced with high temperature equipment such as furnaces, heaters or boilers (desired) Experience with repair & maintenance of production/manufacturing equipment Experience with vacuum chambers (highly desired)

 

Skills

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers, decimals and fractions.    Ability to use a scientific calculator and perform basic calculations.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.   Ability to communicate in English and speak effectively before small groups of employees in the organization.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.   Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to anticipate problems and proactively identify potential problems.

 

Working Conditions

Manufacturing environment with high temperature vacuum equipment. Working with process gasses (Ar, He, CO, CO2). Usually loud. 

 

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift & carry 50 lbs

Moderate physical expenditure. Some days on feet for more than 6 hours during shift

Frequent standing & sitting

 

Safety Requirements

All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards.

Wear safety gear for extended period of time including safety glasses, respirator and safety shoes.
