Program Summary
Program of Record Development, Limited Production, and Sustainment contract for TIGS (Tactical Integrated Ground Suite) including mobile SATCOM kits, training assets, and software development environment (SDE). TIGS is deployed at 1 OCONUS location, and 1 CONUS location.
Job Summary
The SATCOM Technician is responsible for preparation, developing, and implementing hardware and software-based systems support to integration, and development tests. The SATCOM Technician will support development, prototyping and demonstration at various CONUS and OCONUS sites. Will provide input and support to provide briefings on the status of events or portions of the overall program.
Roles and Responsibilities
SATCOM Systems Expertise – Provide on-site technical expertise for SATCOM systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability in both CONUS and OCONUS environments.
RF Measurements and Test Equipment Utilization – Conduct RF measurements and operate various test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power meters, oscilloscopes, and signal generators, to assess and optimize system performance.
System Documentation and Maintenance – Develop, update, and maintain critical system artifacts such as functional block diagrams, rack elevations, build guides, wiring diagrams, and site layouts to ensure accurate system configuration and integration.
Integration and Component Coordination – Collaborate with team members, government sponsors, and other stakeholders to ensure successful integration of components and overall system functionality.
Process Development – Assist Sustainment Section Manager in developing processes that are scalable to Manage and perform equipment assembly, configuration, installation, integration, calibration, and test.
System Maintenance and Troubleshooting – Perform routine and complex maintenance on subsystems including communications, networking, antennas, power, timing, signal distribution, trucks, trailers, environmental controls, and other support equipment.
Technical Problem-Solving – Apply advanced technical knowledge to diagnose and resolve complex SATCOM issues, leveraging expertise in system architecture and troubleshooting methodologies.
Test and Performance Optimization – Utilize a broad range of test instruments and analytical techniques to identify performance gaps and implement corrective actions to restore or enhance system functionality.
Operational Compliance and Procedure Adherence – Implement and enforce operational, maintenance, and organizational procedures to ensure adherence to policies, regulations, and best practices.
Safety and Risk Mitigation – Identify workplace risks, implement mitigation strategies, and proactively intervene to prevent mishaps and ensure personnel and equipment safety.
Remote Technical Support – Provide telephonic or remote assistance to help diagnose and resolve complex system issues, ensuring minimal operational downtime.
Training and Knowledge Transfer – Deliver formal and informal training to operators, instructors, and customer personnel, enhancing operational capabilities and system understanding.
Additional Duties – Perform other tasks as assigned to support program objectives and operational requirements.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and seven (7) years’ experience, Master's degree and three (3) years' experience, in lieu of a degree a High School diploma or GED and fifteen (15) years’ experience.
Possess an active Top Secret, Sensitive Compartmented Information security clearance
Must be able to pass a travel physical examination and satisfy medical prerequisites, including receiving inoculations specific to host country entrance requirements, globally.
Ability to regularly stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, and kneel to setup satellite communication suite and computer equipment
Ability to lift 50 pounds above head.
Preferred Qualifications
Substantive knowledge of computer/networking and communications experience
Experience working independently and in an integrated team-oriented, collaborative environment with prototype satellite communication systems
Knowledge of space defense systems and military applications of space system and a working knowledge of military and ground operations is required.
Requires an understanding of both theories and principles of electrical, mechanical, RF and software systems.
Trouble shooting skills for RF and computer network systems
Ability to manage time and resources to meet project goals.
Ability to function well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Ability to react to project to adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in an occasionally high-pressure environment
Excellent written and oral presentation skills; ability to interface with customers at a professional level
Demonstrated technical writing skills
Familiarity with Information Assurance
Proficient in MS Office
Possess a United States Passport
Must possess an active driver’s license
Salary Range: $107,260 – $160,860
The salary range posted is for Colorado Springs, CO. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience, contract affordability, and in consideration of internal parity.
