Satellite Communications Engineer

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

JOB SUMMARY - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

Electrical Engineer or Computer Scientist with strong satellite communications background and skills. Will be part of a technical team of network builders, integrators and test engineers, who integrate, test and analyze complex satellite systems. This position will be responsible for evaluating system specifications, acquisition, setting up and configuring, operating and maintaining satellite terminals, including fixed and tactical systems. The incumbent will also be responsible to the technical subject matter expert as well as training of other users, in addition to:

Providing SME support in SATCOM technologies and analysis Operations, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of SATCOM terminals Installation of equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications Knowledge of system maintenance manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams and theory of operations Documentation of reports and technical studies Leading the testing, tuning/adjusting equipment in accordance with best practices to obtain optimum system performance Working closely with ancillary Network and Telephony Engineers to integrate SATCOM based on customer requirements Performs other duties as assigned

DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

Experienced in creating technical documentation Experienced troubleshooting and documenting system discrepancies Experienced integrating multiple systems Experienced with fixed and tactical satellite systems Active Secret or TS/SCI clearance or eligibility for reinstatement

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE

An associate's degree in engineering or other technical discipline, or formal academic/vocational/military training and a minimum of 12 years of experience in the specialty field are required for this position.

In addition, a Field Engineer IV must possess the following qualifications:

Broad knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering that enable performance as a senior technical contributor on complex projects or programs Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply developments in engineering to solve problems in the specialty area Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software Excellent communication and analytical skills Planning/organizational skills

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting and use of a computer terminal; constant use of sight abilities while writing, reviewing, and editing documents; constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication; and constant mental alertness are required.

Travel to remote company work locations may be required.
