Job Summary
A Designer Level II exhibits proven design and project planning ability utilizing creativity, innovation and presentation skills to provide best in class support to IFF clients. In this role, the Designer has an established knowledge of recipe ingredients, customer bases, processes and flavor interactions in associated Category applications. The position requires refined problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills to liaise directly with customers confidently. A Designer Level II works independently on all assigned projects, and collaboratively on strategic, must-win and high value projects.Key Responsibilities:
Lead and drive savory modulation projects in cooperation with the Innovation Program Director and the Union Beach technical team.Screening of new flavor modulation tools derived from molecule discovery, botanical research, and food science research. Understand their function as modulation ingredients and determine the best categories of use through sensory evaluations.Development of application demos in market relevant bases that are optimized for showcasing IFF’s modulation capabilities. Elevate relevant market bases through use of culinary techniques and approaches.Provide cross-functional leadership within global project teams, working closely together with project management office. Support the 5D stage gate process with all key stakeholders to ensure optimal delivery of new ingredients and technologies.Act as the owner of modulation projects from conception to roll-out. Arrange update meetings and sensory testing plans for modulation materials.Interact with broad range of stakeholders, including R&D, commercial flavorists, regulatory, operations, customers, sensory, and external partners.Interact with key modulation customers regionally and globally to understand requirements and build solid relationships.Job Requirements
Essential:
Four Year Degree/ (BS/BA in food science preferred).Minimum of 5 years’ experience in applications at a consumer product goods or flavor companyFluent in English. Additional languages are desirable.Excellent communication, organization, and computer skills. Extensive knowledge of savory modulation tools and well versed in the challenges in sodium reduction / umami modulation.Expert tasting skills and the ability to create and adjust base formulations based on customer’s nutritional requirements and taste preferences.Ability to build relationships with internal and external customers and present new capabilities.Proven artistic ability, presentation skills, project management skills.Exploratory mindset, problem solving skills.Drive for results, taking ownership and not afraid to go the “extra mile”.Preferred:
