Basic Qualifications

HS Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institutionMinimum of 1-year work experience in Hot Operations Shop (Saw and Radius) or another related manufacturing department at the companyEmployees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications

An associate's degree or bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent education from a technical school or military trainingLeadership experience to include prior experience training others, leading a project or process improvement, or other related leadership experience

Job Summary

Howmet Aerospace has an immediate opening for a Saw and Radius Team Lead at our Midway, GA location. Saw and Radius Team leaders assign, execute and review work performed on assigned shift.  They assist fellow team members in the safe execution of each team member’s job responsibilities in alignment with company policies and procedures. They operate equipment and assist team members to maintain efficient productivity within the department.

Essential Functions

This is a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities and is not all inclusive. Incumbent(s) may and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.  The focus of this position includes managing people, resources, production numbers, quality, and ensuring safety policies and procedures are adhered to with the team.

MUST be able to work ANY shift (i.e. day shift, night shift, weekend shift, etc.).

Beginning of Shift

Conduct a hand-off meeting with the previous shift Team LeaderReview safety - any incidents that may have occurred, any new issues or hazardsReview quality concerns and incidents that occurred on previous shiftAll work in process status-ProductionAll equipment status and any other issuesAssignment of shift personnel to machines and non-machine work and job priorityReview any general topics

During the Shift:

Ensure every employee is working safely and following company safety standardsIdentify any safety hazards, inform your team, and generate a safety near miss if necessary, using Qpulse.  (File, New, From Wizard, Safety Near Miss Wizard)Ensure work centers have required tools, documents, programs, and physical parts to keep machines runningReport any equipment issues to maintenance by radio or phone.  Create a maintenance work order (FM 81) and report issue to supervisorMonitor employee performance, identify issues, document in departmental OneNote fileOperate equipment when needed to maintain efficient productivity within the departmentConduct and\or monitor any training and orientation as instructed by supervisor, submit Qpulse training acknowledgement form (FM 13) to supervisor when completedPerform Safety Stops, Quality Walks (FM 345) and 5S audits as scheduledInspect and restore the work area to acceptable 5S status and perform end of shift auditCheck all supplies levels and fill out request form if neededContact supervisor if any employee relations issue arisesOversees the execution of the daily forging production schedule and directing the employees in TOC principles that include: safety, quality, productivity along with team workMonitors and maintains production standards for efficiencies, material waste, and part qualityEffectively oversees the process technicians, processes and material flows to insure achievement of productivity goalsInitiates corrective actions to achieve productivity goalsResponsible for executing production goals, tracking and reducing downtime, 5S, changeover processesInput, analyzes and communicates quality control dataMust be knowledgeable of heat treat principles   Develops and executes cross training of process technicians insure team is well trained and flexibleAbility to communicate with all levels of management both verbally and in writingDemonstrate good judgment, decision making and team building skillsRegular attendance is an essential function of this positionPerforms other duties as assigned 

End of Shift

Conduct a hand-off meeting with the incoming shift Team LeaderCommunicate identified safety issues/concerns, quality issues, equipment status, production goals and any special instructions or informationPrepare and send an end of shift report as instructed by department supervisor
