**Saw Filer Trainee, Belk, AL** Interfor is seeking energetic and enthusiastic team players to join our team as a **Saw Filer Trainee** in **Belk** , **AL** . **What You’ll Do** + Repairs saw blades (sawmill and planer mill) according to customer's or manufacturer's specifications, using hand tools, precision measurement tools, machine tools, and welding equipment: Examines saw for defects. + Straightens twists and kinks in blades, using straightening press, and hammers out dents in blade on metal table. + Sharpens all saws. + Have ability to calculate the number, gullet size and angle of teeth to produce specified cut. + Have knowledge of saw quality and specifics to each machine center. + Have knowledge to achieve the setpoints for each product and ability to correct when it’s out of tolerance. + Perform preventive maintenance on machinery to keep equipment properly operational. + Change saws and guides on CNS, VSA, Edger. + Make and grind guides to correct spec for CNS, VSA, & Edger. + Grind knives for all machines to correct spec. + Manages all saw & knife changes for the sawmill. + Manages all saw, knife, guide, and consumable inventory for the department. + Adhere to all safety regulations especially applicable to lockout/tag-out. + Perform any other work-related task deemed necessary by the supervisor. + Walking, Stairs, Bending and Lifting (Up to 50 lbs). What You Offer + Knowledge of tools, materials, methods, and standard practices of the Saw Filer’s trade. + The hazards and safety precautions of the saw filer’s trade. + Ability to learn job-related material primarily through oral instructions and observation.
