This is a full-time role, on-site, that allows you to participate in a structured learning plan designed to include both a formal educational component and specific hands on learning in sawmill operations with the potential to progress to operational leadership roles within Interfor. Under the guidance of the Mill Manager, the Sawmill Operations Trainee will develop skills in all functional areas of sawmill operation including, production, maintenance, quality, transportation and logistics, sales and marketing, customer relations, and environmental, health and safety. Applied learning in the workplace will be supplemented with mentorship, coaching, and coursework. **What You’ll Do** **In this role you will:** + Obtain knowledge and expeirence in all aspects of a sawmill operation. + Develop your leadership skills by partnering with various leaders at mill. + Add value by owning projects that drive continuous improvement initiaitives on the production side of the mill. + Complete the one-year program to earn your Industrial Wood Processing Associate Certificate from BCIT (paid by Interfor). **What You Offer** + Degree or dilpoma in Wood Products Processing, Business, Operations Management, Engineering (Industrial or Mechanical), or any industry-related degree/diploma. + Previous experience working in a sawmill or industrial environment is preferred. + Career-focused with ambitions to work in future leadership roles in sawmill operations. Willingness for future relocation to one of Interfor's other operations is an asset. + Commitment to maintain a safe work environment without compromise. + Analytical & problem-solving skills. + Ability to to communicate and collaborate effectively with your team and other departments. + Desire to perform hands-on work within the mill with the various equipment. + Proficient with Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Outlook. + Team player withstrongwork ethic and desire to learn from industry professionals. **Who We Are** Interfor is a growth-orientedforestproducts company, operating in all major forest products markets across North America. The salary offered is benchmarked to current market conditions and will also be based on numerous factors which can include work experience, skills, credentials, education, and other relevant factors.
