SBA Lender II
Summary: The SBA Lender II works with SBA Loan applicants to analyze and underwrite average complexity and dollar size loans within a designated sales territory. Develops new business relationships and cross sells Bank’s products and services. Works in cooperation with internal partners and referral sources to develop new business opportunities. Maintains Small Business/SBA loan portfolio, monitors delinquencies and evaluates problem loans, provides Small Business/SBA loan documentation quality control and assists in the resolution of loan documentation exceptions. Job Responsibilities: + New Business + Develops new business by contacting potential customers and following up on leads. + Cross sells Bank products and services. + Portfolio Maintenance + Maintains performing SBA loans. + Interacts with customers to maintain and enhance business relationships. + Works with the Manager of SBA Lending with regards to SBA compliant portfolio maintenance activities including extending loan maturities in CB and SBA E-Tran systems, interest rate modifications and ensuring that loan files are documented properly. + Provides loan and Small Business/SBA loan documentation quality control for the team of lenders assigned. + Assists in the resolution of loan and Small Business/SBA loan documentation exceptions so that files are fully prepared for loan review as well as internal and SBA audit. + Credit and Application Review + Interviews loan applicants primarily for new customers and secondarily for existing relationships. + In conjunction with the Credit Department, analyzes financial and related data for credit worthiness and merits of loan requests along with SBA eligibility. + Uses SBA E-Tran to score loan applications. + Establishes terms and approves loans within lending authority or recommends approval to senior management. Informs customers of Bank decisions. + Monitoring and Restructuring + Monitors delinquencies and evaluates problem loans. + Analyzes benefits of restructuring versus pursuing legal collection action. + Along with the team of commercial lenders assigned, provides recommendations as to loan restructuring, implementing legal collection action, or referral of the loan to the Special Assets Department. + Estimates financial impact to the Bank. + Takes action to preserve the SBA guaranty. + Job and Industry Knowledge + Maintains a current knowledge of local and national economic, financial political and legislative trends including SBA Information Notices, especially 7(a) Loan Policy Changes. Determines the possible impact on commercial lending activities. + Keeps up to date on SBA Regulations on Lender and Development Company Loan Programs (SBA SOP 50 10 5(EG). + Maintains knowledge of SBA Regulations on servicing and liquidation (SBA SOP 50 57). + Reporting + Assists in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports to track loan originations. + Assists in the preparation of the monthly SBA 1502 Report and SBA Quarterly Liquidation Report. + Monitors commercial/SBA loan maturities and loan documentation exceptions. + Other Responsibilities + Performs other job-related duties as may be assigned. Job Requirements: + Bachelor's Degree in a business discipline. + Minimum of 5 years’ experience in business lending, with a focus on SBA a plus + Formal credit training a plus. + Local business experience specifically Northern NJ with potential market expansion. + Must be able to produce assigned loan volume as set annually. + Must ensure and maintain asset quality of loan portfolio. + Excellent decision making and problem-solving abilities. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deal effectively with customers, attorneys, realtors and other financial institutions as well as all levels of Bank personnel. + Excellent organizational, follow-up and time management skills. + History of community involvement through volunteerism and/or representation with charitable organizations.
