POWER Engineers Canada seeks an experienced SCADA Engineer for our Edmonton, Alberta, Canada office.
Roles and ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for completing assigned projects and maintaining and improving client relationships. Achieving these functions requires technical competence in primary production roles and leadership competence in working with clients and mentoring and supervising team members assigned to projects. Assigned projects will include SCADA and communications for utility and industrial/commercial clients. The systems to be analyzed will consist of conventional and renewable generation facilities, substations, and transmission and distribution systems. Include the following three areas:
Networking and Communications: design and configure network and communication paths for Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), Human Machine Interface (HMIs), PLC and other SCADA system equipment; specify and design communication networks, including data security and availability; develop basic specifications for fiber optic, microwave, power line carrier, or radio communication paths; travel to project sites to troubleshoot and commission network and communication systems. Applicable network and communication protocols: DNP, Modbus, SEL Communication Protocol, Goose Messaging, IEC 61850, TCP/IP, UDP Logic and Control Systems: develop and implement logic and control schemes for remote and local operation of power system equipment; develop programs on various platforms to implement these schemes; travel to project sites to test and commission the control schemes.With:
Applicable Logic and Control Platforms: SEL RTAC, Orion, Cooper SMP, GE-D20. Data Acquisition: Prepare points lists of all data to be transferred between control centers and controlled apparatus, assign and program data addressing and routing information, develop Human Machine Interface (HMI) screens, and travel to project sites to test and commission data transfer schemes. Applicable Software: Wonderware, Clearview, AcSELerator RTAC, Visual Basic, OSIPI, Python scripting, etc.The successful applicant must also demonstrate aptitude in the following:

Required Essential Education/Experience Requires a BSEE. (6)+ years of related industry experience Desired Education/Experience Preference will be given to applicants with a proven history of completing similar projects in a consulting environment.
