Union position Pay rate: $37.08 Under minimal supervision the SCADA Operator - Thermal works at journeyman level monitoring the operation of stationary gas/fuel-fired boilers and hot water generators, chilled water systems, low air systems, de-mineralized water, softened water systems and their relation auxiliaries to include: pumps, regulators, meters, blowers, fans, de-mineralizers, softeners, electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic control devices, centrifugal chillers, and low and high pressure air compressors. Receives trouble calls from all commands and initiates work orders in both ESWin and Maximo computer systems. Responsible for calling in necessary craftspersons to facilitate repairs on priority and emergency trouble calls occurring outside of normal working hours, on weekends, or holidays. Maintains various operational records and logs and produces operational reports. During emergencies and natural disasters, oversees the flow of information and reports, coordinates actions when necessary, and ensures response plans are followed. Interfaces closely with the appropriate manager to ensure key operational matters are performed, communicated, and documented. The SCADA Operator - Thermal shall monitor and oversee the systems, receive system alarms, locate trouble areas, dispatch boiler plant mechanics to the trouble areas, direct and coordinate corrective efforts, and regularly report uncorrected malfunctions. Responsible for calling in necessary boiler plant mechanics to facilitate repairs on priority and emergency trouble calls occurring outside of normal work hours, on weekends, and holidays. May perform chemical analysis of boiler water and cooling towers and chemical treatment as required; determine fuel requirements and maintain all related pumps, valves, and piping. Inspect and run safety checks according to government and manufacturers' specifications. Maintains a log of all aspects of the SCADA system. The SCADA Operator - Thermal shall have knowledge of personal computers, programmable logic controllers, single loop digital controllers and SCADA operation systems. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications + High school education or equivalent + Must have four (4) years verifiable experience in the operation of boiler/hot water generator systems, mobile and associated equipment. + Must have four (4) years of verifiable experience in the operation of Centravac chillers. + Must understand chemical treatment of boilers/hot water generators and cooling towers. + Must be able to troubleshoot systems and components. + Must have verifiable knowledge of personal computers and computer systems. Must be familiar with standard operating systems and office software. + Must possess the tools of their trade + Must agree to be able to wear a close-fitting respirator (requires the absence of facial hair that would interfere with the respirator seal). + Must possess a valid state driver's license + Must have and wear hard-toed ankle height safety shoes which meet ASTM F2413-05 standards. + Successful candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must continually meet eligibility requirements for access to all areas of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.
