Summary of Position:
The Scale Operator manages the scale house operations, checks in drivers and handles related paperwork.
Functions of the Position:
Responsible for operating truck scale and ensuring that all incoming and outgoing trucks are weighed, documented and load information is verified.Responsible for maintaining various office/departmental reports and logs as assigned. Works closely with Distribution and/or Receiving Supervisor. Responsible for keeping the supervisor informed of all incoming/outgoing trucks and traffic flow. Directs truck drivers to correct dock doors/area. Ensures all paperwork (shipping manifest, weight tickets, control forms, trucking invoices and bill of lading) are signed and completed. Verifies seals and drivers information for load integrity. Schedules inbound/outbound appointments as necessary. Collects and delivers necessary paperwork to proper department, as directed by procedures. Works closely with the Distribution/Receiving department to ensure orders are ready for ASN labels. Builds ASN labels as needed to process orders in QAD shipping correctly. Oversees building security and is watchful of any unauthorized individuals/vehicles entering the property. Responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following current good manufacturing practices, allergen/sanitation controls, food defense/food fraud, HACCP/FSMA, SQF, and regulatory requirements.Aware and accountable for maintaining and documenting preventative controls necessary to ensure food safety and quality.Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to management.Responsible for partnering with others, sharing knowledge, skills, and information within assigned team and across functional areas.Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development.Responsible for compliance with all safety policies and procedures established for health and workplace safety.Responsible for supporting safety culture by practicing safe work behaviors, reporting potential hazards, and conducting safety observations as assigned.Qualifications
Education, Experience, and Knowledge:
Minimum one year experience in an office or distribution environment.High school diploma or equivalent required.Skills and Competencies:
Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and WMS (Warehouse Management System).Must be able to read, write, and speak English.Strong communication skills.Detail oriented with good math skills.Self-starter with ability to handle heavy clerical workload.Job Specific Requirements:
This position is subject to mandatory overtime based on business needs.
