About the PositionOperate, troubleshoot, and test computerized scale system and associated software to weigh vehicles, process transactions and record transactions for landfill sites for operational accuracy.Visually inspect loads of waste to determine type, amount, and contamination levels of material being delivered, performing the duties of an initial load inspection utilizing landfill spotter certification principles.Understand landfill processes and procedures and be able to apply processes and procedures to the acceptance of waste.Determine if acceptance of waste is permitted and directs acceptable waste to designated disposal area and coordinate with onsite landfill inspector.Prepare, process, and record regulatory tracking paperwork for acceptance of regulated wastes such as friable asbestos and waste tires.Communicate with customers in a friendly, service-oriented manner.Promptly, courteously, and accurately processes payments for waste disposal transactions in the form of cash, credit cards, account charges, online payments and advanced payment accounts.Balance cash drawer daily; identifies errors and take appropriate steps to remedy and/or report to the supervisor if not remedied.Prepare bank deposits and/or transfers of cash/checks as needed.Accurately perform accounting related duties pertaining to the receipt of cash in order to ensure the integrity of the financial system.Enter and retrieve data and prepare reports from an on-line systems, including banking institutions following established formats.Review computer-produced reports for accuracy and corrects as required. Conduct QA/QC process on all transactions to ensure accuracy.Serve as the record manager for the department including copying, electronic scanning, etc.Provide customer service by greeting site visitors and phone call by and providing answers and directions according to their needs.Perform administrative duties as assigned.Work Hours:
Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.Saturday, 7:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.Minimum 40 Hours per week.About YouMinimum Qualifications
A High School Diploma or its equivalent.Two (2) years of bookkeeping, cashiering, or computer experience.-OR- One year of college may substitute for one year of experience.Successful completion of "Landfill Spotter" certification course within six (6) months from the time of hire.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with scale systems and scale system software. Basic bookkeeping skills and working with spreadsheets. Ability to use phone, two-way radios, calculator, copier, scanner, and credit card terminals. About Everything ElseStarting Pay Rate: $21.85 - $22.00/ hour, based on experience
