A place where your talent is recognized, professional development is encouraged and career advancement is possible. **Position Purpose:** The Charge Clerk/ Scheduling Clerk (Surgical Services) is responsible to complete duties related to the efficient entry of surgical charges into the computer system as well as coordinating clerical, receptionist and scheduling duties.. This task entails a willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet timeframes and deadlines which exist surrounding charge data entry. The Scheduling Clerk is responsible for planning, designing, training, developing, implementing, maintaining, managing and evaluating the computer scheduling system utilized by the Surgical Services departments. The coordination of activities occurs intra-departmentally, interdepartmentally and with the physician’s offices. This position requires acting as a liaison with other hospital departments such as Health Information Systems, Finance, Materials Management, Information Systems, Admitting, Infection Control, and Risk Management. The clerical segment entails assisting the Surgical Services Director as required with departmental clerical tasks and data collection. He/she communicates to the Clinical Coordinator and/or designee, patient observations and needs, as appropriate. The Scheduling Clerk serves as a resource to all users and provides ongoing support of all scheduling applications within Surgical Services. Performs other related duties incidental to work described within. The Clerical Assistant II demonstrates ethical, appropriate professional telephone and interactional behaviors while continually maintaining patient confidentiality. Reports to the Surgical Services Director.
