As a School Counselor at Primary Hall, you will ensure that our students have a balanced educational experience that prioritizes their physical and mental well-being as well as their academic performance.

Supervisory Responsibilities
+ None
Essential Job Functions
+ Support the implementation of the Mindfulness and Character Education programs.
+ Support students' academic, behavioral, and mental well-being.
+ Collaborate with all community stakeholders to promote students' academic and personal success.
+ Schedule and conduct home visits for newly enrolled families.
+ Consult with families, therapists, doctors, parents, Child Protective Services (CPS), law guardians, and family court as needed.
+ Provide professional development and in-house support to staff as needed.
+ Provide staff with essential information to better understand factors affecting a student's performance or behavior.
+ Collaborate with Dean of Culture for continued support for students.
+ All other duties as assigned.

+ Thorough understanding of warning signs of abuse, neglect, or other crimes.
+ Ability to work well with a variety of other personalities.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
+ Must be willing to work outside of traditional office hours if necessary or required as the role requires some attendance at school events outside of business hours.
+ Unwavering high expectations for all students.
Qualifications, Education, and Experience
+ New York State Provisional or Permanent Certification as a School Social Worker.
+ LMSW-Licensed Master Social Worker or LCSW-Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
+ 2 years of experience in School Counseling with preference given to individuals with experience in an urban school setting.
Working Conditions
Classroom and Office setting, the noise level in the work environment(s) is relatively quiet.
Cognitive and Physical Demands
+ Daily/consistent: Standing, sitting, computer work, screen time, keyboarding, typing, wrist flexing/extension and other repetitive movements and lifting (up to 20 pounds).
+ Daily/consistent: Use of professional judgement in alignment with Primary Hall values and policies, ability to communicate effectively verbally and written, and to complete projects with minimal assistance and supervision.
+ Occasionally: kneeling, standing, reaching, twisting, grasping.
