The ideal candidate will be responsible for promoting and maintaining the health and well-being of students, staff, and visitors within the school environment. This position plays a crucial role in supporting a safe and nurturing educational atmosphere. Responsibilities: + Health Assessment: + Conducts health assessments for students to identify and address any health concerns. + Monitors and manage chronic health conditions of students, including the administration of medications as needed. + Implements policy on exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases. + Maintains an updated inventory of supplies and equipment needed for the operation of the Nurse's Office. + Stores and dispenses internal medication with written authorization from parents. + Visits students in home when necessary. + Emergency Response: + Responds promptly to medical emergencies and provide immediate care when necessary. + Collaborates with emergency services and communicate effectively with parents/guardians in emergency situations. + Record Keeping: + Maintains accurate and up-to-date health records for all students. + Tracks immunizations, screenings, and other health related documentation in compliance with regulations. + Records attendance data and participates in an intervention program for recurring illness and other attendance problems. + Communication: + Communicates effectively with parents/guardians regarding their child's health and collaborate with them to address any health concerns. + Collaborates with teachers and other school personnel to support students with health-related needs. + Collaboration with School Staff and Outside Agencies: + Work closely with teachers, administrators, and other school personnel to create a supportive and inclusive school environment. + Actively makes connections and collaborates with outside agencies and other health providers. + May be required to serve as a member of the Committee on Special Education or other building level committees. + Professional Development: + Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with trends, methodologies, and advancements. This includes attending workshops, seminars and professional meetings such as faculty and department meetings. + Collaborates with fellow nurses and staff to share best practices and enhance the overall experience for students. + Other: + Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent. + The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities.
