The School Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery of student/client care and/or contracted services in a school setting. The School Nurse may also be in a supervisory position within the contracted services. The School Nurse provides services in accordance with Amergis Healthcare’s philosophy, standards, policies and physician orders.
Minimum Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited registered, practical or vocational nursing program Licensed as a Licensed Practical, Licensed Vocational or Registered Nurse in state(s) where practicing One year of professional experience, preferred Current CPR Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) Must meet all federal, state and local requirements Must be at least 18 years of age Job Responsibilities:Administering First Aid and Emergency Care: Providing immediate care for injuries and acute illnesses. Health Screenings: Conducting routine screenings for vision, hearing, and other health issues. Medication Administration: Dispensing medications as prescribed by physicians. Health Records Management: Maintaining and updating student health records. Chronic Condition Management: Assisting students with chronic conditions like asthma, diabetes, and allergies. Health Education: Educating students, staff, and parents on health-related topics. Disease Prevention: Monitoring and controlling communicable diseases within the school. Mental Health Support: Providing counseling and support for students with mental health concerns. Immunization Programs: Coordinating and overseeing school immunization programs. Policy Development: Assisting in the development and implementation of health and safety policies.
