Posting Details Position Information Requisition Number GA00589 Position Title School of Nursing Graduate Assistant 2024-2025 Position Eclass GF - Graduate Flat Pay Position Summary The term Graduate Assistant is the umbrella term that encompasses all types of GA appointments. Graduate Assistants are employed by the University to teach, conduct research, or assist with administrative duties in departments and non-academic units. Every attempt is made to assign Graduate Assistants to positions that are directly related to the student’s field of study or that provide the opportunity to develop transferable, professional skills. Graduate Assistantships are assigned in the department or unit and confirmed by the Graduate School. Additional Details There are four types of Graduate Assistantships in the School of Nursing: Graduate Research Assistant, Graduate Instructional Assistant, Graduate Clinical Assistant, Graduate Teaching Associate.
Graduate Research Assistant: This job includes all tasks related to research for a specific faculty member such as: data collection, entry and analysis, reviewing literature, assisting with the preparation of grant applications and reports, copying, filing, shredding, organizing lab/office space.
Graduate Instructional Assistant: You may meet students in group settings to provide tutorial assistance, or assist with setting up or staffing a simulation lab, or perform other course related work.
Graduate Clinical Assistant: This student may engage in clinical practice such as student counseling or perform health and wellness activities.
Graduate Teaching Associate: This position serves as Instructor of Record for an undergraduate Nursing class.
If hired, you will be considered for a tuition waiver based upon minimum qualifications, availability of funds, etc. All positions require work on-site. Most students work a ten-hour day, although some schedules vary. Minimum Qualifications To be eligible for appointments as a graduate assistant, you must:
• Maintain academic good standing at all times (3.0).
• Be enrolled full-time, which is generally a minimum of 9 credits.
• Make satisfactory progress toward your degree as defined by your academic program and the Graduate School.
• Meet the requirements to be eligible for employment in the U.S. Additional Minimum Qualifications For some positions and responsibilities, students will be required to have an active RN license and be eligible to practice in North Carolina.
