Position School Psychologist Posting Date January 22, 2025 Starting Date March 1, 2025 Application Due Date February 1, 2025 Qualifications New York State initial or professional certification as a School Psychologist Job Goal: To facilitate learning and to promote cognitive/intellectual, social/emotional, and personal/interpersonal development of all students. To fulfill the Mission of the District. Same wording as used for teachers and other professional staff Reports to Building Principal and/or Director of Special Programs Responsibilities + An individual who is optimistic, who sees events positively and anticipates the best possible outcome. + Able to encourage and sustain others’ efforts as they work toward goals. Assessment + Assess and identify the learning, developmental, and behavioral/adjustment characteristics and needs of referred students, as well as environmental factors, that may affect learning and progress. Maintain a working knowledge of learning benchmarks and expectations at grade levels serviced. Interventions + Use assessment data to develop, provide or consult on appropriate interventions to support learning and personal adjustment. Use crisis intervention techniques with students, including, if needed and certified, therapeutic physical restraint. Counsel individually and in group format with identified students as needed and indicated. Consultation + Provide consultation to parents/guardians, school personnel and community providers and agencies to enhance the learning and personal adjustment of students. Serve as a resource person concerning abilities, disabilities, learning and behavioral profiles, as well as specific and global needs of students. . Collaboration Participate in meetings of the Instructional Support Team, as required, and other student team meetings as requested. Participate in or chair CSE/CPSE meetings. Participate in or chair 504 Committee meetings. Provide authorship, as indicated and required, to student Individual Education Programs and Section 504 Accommodation Plans. Professional Practice and Development Apply standards of professional practice in the delivery of school psychological services. Observe laws and policies that govern practice. Continually improve professional knowledge and skill. Maintain all needed and required records and reports. Communication and Relationship Skills Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, school personnel and outside providers and agency personnel. Materials and Supplies Maintain needed testing materials and supplies and submit budget requests in a timely manner. Other Performs related duties as required or assigned. Evaluation Evaluation: The performance of this job will be evaluated annually by Building Principal and/or Director of Special Programs and in accordance with the Board of Education policy. Salary: Per LTA Contract Terms of Employment Ten (10) months per Agreement between District and Teachers' Association.
