Conducts psychological assessments for students and attend Committee on Special Education meetings to interpret results in a parent friendly manner. Conducts classroom observations and participates in the development of BIPs. Maintains accurate student records and completes clearly written and comprehensive reports which provide practical recommendations Communicates with previous agencies and/or school districts of newly transferred students. Submits all required paperwork within a timely manner, adhering to all federal, state, and local laws and policies. Cooperates with staff members and parents in maintaining a positive climate during meetings and/or conferences. Participates in eligibility meetings, IEP meetings, and other pertinent meetings at assigned school buildings, as needed. Consults and/or counsels with students, school staff, and parents regarding student's academic and/or personal/social needs. Works with community agencies. Assists teachers in developing specific instructional and/or behavioral strategies or programs for students. Service as the 504 Committee Chairperson for the District. Cooperates with personnel of community health and social welfare agencies. Attends staff, professional, interagency meetings. Conducts in-service training for school personnel. Maintains professional competence through continued education and training. Keeps abreast of developments and research in the field of school psychology and shares with colleagues. Sensitivity to cultural diversity of others. Must be willing to assume added responsibilities as designated by the Superintendent of Schools.
