The Educational Sign Language Interpreter supports staff, students, and families by providing interpretation and translation services for deaf and hearing-impaired students. The interpreter also effectively facilitates communication between students who use sign language due to hearing loss, and students/teachers who do not.
Minimum Requirements:
+ State Board of Education Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate (as applicable)
+ Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) certificate (as applicable per state regulation or client requirement)
+ Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification (as applicable per state regulation or client requirement)
+ Current CPR if applicable
+ TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
+ Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
General Comments
Sign Language Interpreter working 1:1 with a DESTINY (multineeds) student.
L ocation: Oak Forest
Grade Level: 9th g rade student in a junior high/early high school multineeds classrooms serving students with intellectual disabilities, autism, and other health impairments
Setting: Separate school for students with disabilities in the CD and DESTINY Programs
Staff Hours: 8 :15-3:30 / Full Time position
Caseload Size: Sign language interpreter would be working one on one with the assigned student.
Interpreter must hold an ISBE license and have a score of 3.5 or higher on the EIPA.
