Science Council Portfolio Manager

(GST) is seeking an experienced individual to join our team in support of the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The Science Council Portfolio Manager will support a NOAA satellite service Science Council that oversees the quality and research directions of NOAA satellite data and product development and ensures the integrity of agency and interagency collaboration and formal agreements This position is located in College Park, MD, but is approved for a hybrid model of onsite and telework. Position Summary: The Science Council Portfolio Manager will engage with a variety of other tasks including tracking and reporting on NOAA satellite service R&D policies and strategic planning, NOAA satellite state of the science and highlights, and a NOAA satellite library of resources including policies, FAQs, and training. Will assist with periodic Science Council meetings, including arranging schedules, supporting meeting preparations and documentation, and tracking follow-up tasks. You will help prepare meeting summaries and reports, and you will help develop positive and strategic relationships across the satellite service. You will possess a high degree of professionalism, discretion, judgment, and knowledge of the organization. The individual must be a good writer and editor, adept with document editing and formatting, and highly organized. Required Education/Experience/Skills: • Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering discipline, environmental management and policy, or remote sensing. Experience in lieu of education is permitted. Master's degree is preferred. • Minimum of 8 years of experience in administration and high-level executive support • Familiarity with administrative and financial applications, including Google and Microsoft suites, and preferably Smartsheet • A strategic mindset with good operational attention to detail • Strong inter-personal, communication, analytical skills • Understanding of the Federal government system and preferably of a Federal science organization U.S. Citizenship required Selected applicants will be subject to a government background investigation.
