KBR’s Science and Space division is seeking a Project Manager to support our Technical Support Services Contract (TSSC) at the United States Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Resources Observation & Science (EROS) Center (http://eros.usgs.gov/) near Sioux Falls, SD (http://www.siouxfalls.org).
This position will enable versatile and talented teams of scientists and engineers to fulfill USGS goals within well-managed schedule and budget definitions. The Project Manager is supported by expert Team Leads and the TSSC Science Division Manager. This role oversees the research, development, and production of information products using forward-looking technologies, managing science and engineering activities to execute advancements and best practices in the fields of land remote sensing, machine learning, and cloud integration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan, organize, manage, and support all TSSC activitiesLead TSSC proposals and task planning efforts in response to government Statements Of Objectives (SOO), Requests for Proposals (RFP), Requests for Information (RFI), or other forms of data callsFacilitate project meetings and other communications between TSSC project team members, USGS customers, and other stakeholdersPlan, organize, manage, and monitor project work activities, milestones, and deliverablesProvide project budget and scheduling oversight and variance analysisEnsure adequate TSSC staffing resources are available to support specific work requirementsDevelopment and management of TSSC project teamsWith support and input from project experts, lead scientific and engineering-focused initiatives, facilitating the research, development, and implementation of best practices, standard operating procedures, and efficienciesCompile weekly, monthly, and quarterly project status reports and deliver/present to USGS and other key stakeholdersCollaborate with project stakeholders as directed by the USGS Coordinate TSSC travel arrangements for USGS-approved trips and ensure completion and delivery of TSSC travel reportsMaintain an integrated project schedules to plan and track TSSC activitiesManage TSSC risks and opportunitiesFacilitate collaborations between Enterprise IT, Cloud Dev/Ops, and project team members to ensure IT resources suit project requirementsREQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a national agency check and background investigation after hire to obtain credentials for facility access and user accounts.Must have a 3-year residency in the United States Education: Minimum Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in project management, preferably in a science, engineering, or related fieldYears of Experience: Minimum 5-10 years of recent and related work experienceStrong leadership skills that can engage staff, TSSC managers, and USGS customers to ensure project successOwnership, organization, and prioritization of multiple tasksAdaptability to circumstances while meeting strategic goalsAbility to effectively communicate project status, obstacles, and deliverables to a range of audiencesCommitment to enabling staff strengths to efficiently meet project needsWillingness to cultivate productive relationships and mentor staffPREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Broad understanding of the USGS EROS missionFamiliarity with remote sensing and geospatial science conceptsUnderstanding of fundamental engineering practicesExposure to large-scale processing in the Amazon Web Service (AWS) environmentProject Management Professional (PMP) certificationExperience with collaboration tools such as Atlassian, Microsoft Teams, or SharepointWORK LOCATION
This position supports a team anchored in Sioux Falls, SD and is offered in a hybrid remote/onsite work environment that aligns with USGS Project requirements. Travel may be required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Three years of continuous residency in the US for issuance of a Government Security credentialThe candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a national agency check and background investigation after hire to obtain a badge for government facility access and user accounts.KBR partners with several other companies to fulfill its requirements as a government contractor.
