Position Number: 008657 Department: Library (Adm) Employment Type: Permanent - Full-time Months Per Year: 12 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: + Actively engage with relevant academic programs in the College of Science, College of Computing & Informatics, College of Health & Human Services, other assigned departments, and external groups. + Teach research instruction sessions for assigned subjects and academic programs. + Develop appropriate instructional and informational aids for students, faculty, and community patrons. + Manage and develop collections for assigned subjects. Expend budget allocations for acquisition of library materials according to established deadlines. + Provide research and reference support for assigned subjects to students, faculty, and community patrons. + Provide advanced research support for students and faculty, including but not limited to documenting the impact of University research and assisting in systematic reviews. + Conduct collection evaluations for all proposed new courses and curriculum changes in assigned departments. + Engage in professional service and scholarly contributions; participate in committees and faculty governance in the library and on campus. + Communicate effectively and positively with individuals of varied backgrounds. Additional Duties & Responsibilities ● Participate in the provision of in-person and virtual research services and of instruction for first-year undergraduate students. ● Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Experience / Education: The minimum academic credential required for applicants for faculty positions in Atkins Library is completion of a master’s degree in the field of library and information science from a program accredited by the American Library Association by time of interview. Graduation with master’s degree in a specialized area directly relevant to the position description may be an acceptable substitute in certain situations if approved by the Dean. A second masters in another discipline or an earned doctorate is highly desirable. Preferred Education Skills and Experience: + Degree or significant coursework in one or more disciplines of the sciences, or professional experience working with science students and faculty in a research library setting. + Instruction or liaison experience in an academic research library. + Knowledge of the research needs of students and faculty at a Doctoral Intensive Institution. + Knowledge of the structure, use, and preservation of information resources in assigned areas. + Experience in one or all of the following areas: systematic review searching, research impact support, or scholarly publication services + Excellent oral and written communication skills. + Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently. + Ability to work effectively with a variety of groups and to create an environment of mutual respect. + Knowledge of relevant professional and technological issues in assigned areas. + Ability to work effectively in an organization in which change is both necessary and constant. + Demonstrated commitment to exceptional public service. + Intellectual curiosity and adaptability.
