The successful candidate will deliver dynamic and comprehensive science instruction, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and a love of scientific inquiry. The teacher will be responsible for creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment while meeting curriculum standards and supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students. ResponsibilitiesInstruction and Curriculum Development + Plan and deliver engaging science lessons aligned with state and national standards. + Teach subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science, or Integrated Science, depending on qualifications and school needs. + Incorporate hands-on experiments, lab activities, and real-world applications into lessons. + Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities. + Use technology and digital resources to enhance student learning. Assessment and Evaluation + Design and implement formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress. + Provide timely and constructive feedback to students. + Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance. Classroom Management + Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages respect and active participation. + Establish clear expectations for behavior and academic performance. + Address student behavior and conflicts professionally and proactively. Collaboration and Professional Development + Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and enhance the science curriculum. + Participate in professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices in science education. + Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns. QualificationsEducation and Certification: + Bachelor’s degree in science education, and Earth Science + Valid teaching certification/license education in New York in General Science (grade 7-12) and Earth Science (grades 7-12) preferred. Experience: + Previous teaching experience at the secondary level preferred. + Experience in integrating technology and hands-on learning into the curriculum.
