The Opportunity:
Within Roche Diagnostics Solutions, Clinical Development & Medical Affairs department we are looking for an experienced, Tucson based Scientific Communications Lead within Medical Affairs to work in close collaboration with the Personalized Healthcare Solutions group (focus Oncology) to drive the planning and development of effective scientific communication of data generated from in collaboration with external pharmaceutical partners. Ideal candidates would have some oncology or pathology background.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
The position entails engaging and collaborating with external pharmaceutical partners as well as internal stakeholders, defining scientific communications strategy based on collaboration terms, planning and driving scientific communication activities, namely publications, ensuring reviews and compliance standards are adhered to:
Publication Strategy and Development
Responsible for establishing Publication Plans with pharmaceutical partners with cross-functional input, ensure timely execution of plans
Lead cross functional collaboration efforts with scientific communications, organize and lead meetings, develop content decks set up per collaboration to ensure alignment of communication plans with medical and partner plans
Manage the publication development process, including review and tracking of individual publications using the a publication management tool
Ensure internal communications around published and presented publications; announcements, spotlight summaries
Engage with external health care professionals and medical communication agencies
Effectively manage and maximize with available resources
Engage with medical experts and internal stakeholders, and provide overarching scientific input and advice on therapeutic area
Participate in company educational events for HCPs, and provide overarching scientific expertise and advice on medical content, distilling scientific content for the appropriate target audience.
Who you are:
Master’s or PhD/PharmD degree preferred in Biomedical Sciences, focus oncology
Medical communications or publications management experience. Strong project and stakeholder management skills and good knowledge of Good Publication Practice and ICMJE guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous work experience in medical or scientific communications
Experience in field of oncology, diagnostics experience advantageous
Experience with publication management, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry. Relevant agency and/or diagnostics experience is also beneficial
Understanding of diagnostics industry and regulatory guidelines; competency and enthusiasm to review, communicate and implement Good Publication Practice standards; CMPP certification is an advantage
Working knowledge of publication management tools
Proven leadership skills; creativity and ability to find solutions in complex teams as well as strong stakeholder management skills are key assets
Strategic ability, attention to detail and strong sense of responsibility
Great communication and people skills; energetic, friendly and dynamic personality
Travel Requirements: Ability to occasionally travel

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Tucson, AZ is between $91,100 and $169,100. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
