Job Description:
An Open Innovation Platform has been created at Mars PetCare level which aims at accelerating the availability for the different divisions of new ingredients, especially alternative sources of proteins and fats. This platform will be leveraging the capabilities and capacity of both Pet Nutrition Scientific & Regulatory Affairs and Royal Canin Global Regulatory Affairs to define and execute all regulatory activities required to create a favorable regulatory environment for the use of those ingredients.
This role, sitting in Royal Canin Global Regulatory will project manage the contribution of the department to some of the projects of this Open Innovation Platform.
What are we looking for?Extensive experience in Regulatory affairs and/or in R&D roles generating data for regulatory clearance purposes
Expertise in microbiology or a proven track-record of working with R&D on demonstrating microbiological strain safety & compliance.
Project and Portfolio management experience or the potential to acquire those skills with speed
Proactive, confident and action-oriented individual
Ability to convey content in an audience-appropriate and compelling manner.
Proven ability to influence different stakeholders
Ability to work with people from different cultures and backgrounds
Ability to collaborate effectively across complex organizational and functional boundaries
Fluent in English, any additional language is a plus
What will be your key responsibilities?Enabling our future portfolio to access the market under the best conditions (with speed & with the ability to promote its distinctiveness) requires shaping future regulations and standards, anticipating how the future regulatory environment will impact compliance criteria to be met by products & claims as well as technical & sanitary requirements to be met by raw materials & products crossing borders. Those elements may impact how to design products & packaging, which technologies to use in the value chain, where to locate future manufacturing capabilities, and which trade lanes to leverage. It may also require the creation of new regulatory frameworks adapted to disruptive sciences & technologies.
Market Access Strategy: Enable alternative ingredients which we intend to use in Royal Canin products recipes in a 7-10 year horizon to access the market under the best conditions, by creating and driving the execution of roadmap of activities to be executed by the rest of the Royal Canin Global Regulatory Team
Regulatory Sciences: ensuring that the voice of Royal Canin is heard in discussions with Governmental bodies on tools, standards, and approaches to assess the safety, efficacy, quality, and performance of alternative ingredients
Regulatory Advocacy: shaping technical requirements of alternative ingredients-related regulations. Ensure regulations & standards are based on sciences and do not create unnecessary barriers to market access
Represent Royal Canin Global Regulatory in selected projects in the scope of the PetCare Open Innovation Platform on alternative ingredients.
For those selected projects investigating the use of new ingredients, create, in consultation with the regional Regulatory teams, roadmaps of regulatory activities enabling the creation of a favorable regulatory environment
Coordinate/Project manage the execution of all regulatory activities agreed in the roadmaps and provide status updates to the PetCare Open Innovation Platform
Be responsible for the collaboration with Pet Nutrition R&D and Waltham on the generation of data relevant to the regulatory clearance of ingredients under the responsibility of Royal Canin.
Anticipate how the future regulatory environment will impact compliance criteria to be met by alternative ingredients, including technical & sanitary requirements when crossing borders
Identify adjustments needed to existing regulations and standards and/or needs for new regulations and standards to facilitate access to the market of those new ingredients
Collaborate with suppliers (or with other industry players via consortium) on building together pre-market approval dossiers.
Manage the collaboration between Royal Canin Global Regulatory and PetCare/Royal Canin Public Affairs on advocacy activities
Define, with Public Affairs, Royal Canin positions on prioritized advocacy topics, protecting the existing business and opening opportunities for the growth of the existing portfolio and new businesses
Organize best-practice sharing between Pet Nutrition Scientific & Regulatory Affairs and Royal Canin Global Regulatory Affairs
May represent Royal Canin in selected external forums addressing the regulatory-driven threats and opportunities impacting alternative ingredients of interest to PetCare
