Scientist, Antibody Development Platform

The Antibody Development platform (ADP) Scientist role is responsible for leading molecular biology processes within the team, including the high-throughput recombinant conversion of antibodies (from our hybridoma and B cell discovery platforms), sequence analysis of antibody candidates, and ensuring plasmid clonality. Within the role there is also elements of troubleshooting, supporting method development, and innovation/optimisation of products and processes. This position reports to the Director of Antibody Development and is part of the Antibody Development platform located in Cambridge (UK) and will be on-site. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: + Apply your molecular biology knowledge to support the delivery of optimized recombinant Rabbit antibody discovery workflows. + Work as part of a flexible cross-matrix team to support technology development, transfer, and implementation within Abcam’s global scientific teams. + Take responsibility for maintaining trackers and critical information relating to product development, sequences and delivery. + Work closely with project managers and lab stakeholders to relay project progress and delivery dates for key reagents. + Provide guidance and training for more junior members of the team. The essential requirements of the job include: + You will be educated to at least Masters degree-level in a life sciences-related subject. + You will have at least 2 years’ experience working in a scientific setting either within an academic lab or in industry. + An excellent working knowledge of molecular biology, DNA cloning techniques, bacterial work and DNA sequencing is a must + Our ideal candidate will be able to show examples of prior method development or optimisation of processes and techniques + Experience of antibody discovery within therapeutic or industry setting, or knowledge of immunoassays such as ELISA, HTRF, flow cytometry or Octet would be a bonus but is not a pre-requisite. It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: + Other Antibody discovery processes such as Phage display, NGS or in silico development. Join our winning team today.
